Are you saying that you believe that all flying objects are identifiable? Or that you just don't believe aliens are in them. I thought it was pretty much fact that UFO's (unidentifiable flying objects) exist.

I've found that the bass tend to go for worms before Pickerels, also, surface lures, like jitterbugs. However, if you are fishing at dusk, forget it, you'll get the pickerel hitting the surface lures pretty hard. Just some thoughts.

this report is a little late being posted as it took place over a month ago. I took my son Jack on one of our frequent hikes to the Franklin Parker Preserve.

I walked out my back door to do some yard work yesterday and was surprised to see a black rat snake right there. A young one. He was extremely docile. the most docile black rat I've ever seen. I was concerned he was injured because of this behavior but I could see no wounds and his movements...
Nice photos Bob! I once came upon a pine snake eating a small rabbit. As I recall it was a back end first arrangement. It is a little hard to recall now, but I think that rabbit was already constricted to death before being devoured. I used to have a couple pythons and they would always kill...
I've noticed the confederate flags as well. As you pointed out that doesn't necessarily mean anything racist. I've also noted a strong interest in southern rock and country in the pines. Just like the plants and animals, the pines is a kind of melt of southern and northern culture. Much Much...
Red bellies definitely live in bogs. They seem more concentrated in the rivers where they are literally on top of each other, but they are still probably the most common turtle to see in the bogs except for maybe the painted turtle.

Yeah, if you are going to carry around a 9 volt battery and steel wool you might as well just carry a lighter. What is nice about a bow and drill is the idea that you can make it without any modern, man-made instruments. Of course, a knife and some leather makes it much easier.
I had...
In the 1994 printing of "canoeing the Jersey Pine Barrens' by Robert Parnes he mentions that a ranger reffered to the bridge as Jim George Bridge. However, it could be the author confused Jim George with Jim John (the alternate name for bloody bridge as noted in Guy's newspaper clip).

Red squirrels are neat! and a sure sign you are getting away from suburbia. Loud little guys huh? They always seem annoyed that we are in there area.
Jeff
the white patch is where the outer plates have fallen off and you are seeing the "skeleton" underneath. It is a red belly. As for the age...I do not know.
Jeff
I think Piker was directing that fishing hole tip to me, Bob. Why don't you just stick to the pools below Bamber lake dam.
Great shots Bob! I am sorry I missed that savannah exploration on the return trip. Finding a spring like that is always very neat. I bet that water was cold. I...
You caught me, I bought that shell and hoped to fool you all, damn, i left the tag on:argh:
Just kidding of course. That is the last remaining plate of the outer shell.
I'm glad I was able to make it also. It is always a pleasure to be out with you guys.
Jeff
It was private property and still is, but now it is owned by the NJCF and they recently allowed fishing without written permission as long as it is catch and release. Guy's recommendations for parking are correct.
Jeff
We were fortunate to have high water levels on this trip. The river is shallow and without the levels where they were, it would have been much tougher. Lift overs going upstream were difficult in the kayak due to the strong current pulling the yak away from me and the difficulty of getting in...
It would be cool to set up a camera like this somewhere in the deep woods. It wouldn't be as active, but who knows what might show up.
Jeff
On the other hand, it would compromise the solitude of the area it was set up. yeah, maybe that is a bad idea.
