Feds designate Pinelands road network as N.J.’s third national scenic byway

I always thought that road lacking. It does not include some key areas like route 563. It does not include 539 either, with the plains, and Webbs Mill Bog. I think the people who developed it live south of the Mullica.

    2019 South Jersey LIDAR

Interesting Gabe. On the regular aerial, are there any roads or trails leading to it? Is that the edge of a hard road I see in the upper left corner?

    Charcoal pit locations?

Recall many years ago I pointed out these charcoaling mounds just north of Keswick Grove in Whiting. The area had many. This is the 1930 era aerial.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

I find it fascinating that the lidar can just ignore an enter bridge structure, the roadway, and the cars. This is where Cedar Creek flows under the Parkway.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

Right here Boyd. Not that big space between the two groups, but the smaller spaces between individual scoops in each group. https://boydsmaps.com/#17.00/39.887080/-74.286140/midatlidar/0.00/0.00 (note: post edited by Boyd with link to new map)

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

I'm going to guess 200 to 300 feet. We need to go to Johnny Parker's house and ask him what's up.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

Here are more, north of Lacey road adjacent to existing plants. Obviously eager to expand, I'm thinking.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

And up here as well, in Lacey Township, usually along sand roads so they don't have to bust trees down to get there.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

Something interesting about that Guy. If you look at aerials, there was no clearing or roads up to the mountain at all even in the 1940 aerials. It would be very interesting to actually see a story about that practice range. One with dates, photos, locations, etc.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

I have a speculative theory on that Boyd. I was told one time whenever you see gouges like that, a company was trying to determine if mining for the type of sand they wanted was in that area. Just a guess on my point.
