    Mannis Duck Pond

Well ripe inkberries are black and ripe bayberries are a waxy grey but perhaps what you were seeing was most likely unripe berries.I have seen both inkberry and bayberry grow in solid patches but in the pines in an old burn I"d say inkberry.Or possibly Sheep laurel? but I"ve never seen berries...

    Mannis Duck Pond

Do you have any photos of this "Bayberry"? It could be bayberry but I think "Inkberry" probably more likely. If you crush bayberry leaves they smell good.Inkberry leaves have no smell other then crushed leaf smell.

    Upper Wading River

I have walked that section but never when it looked like their was enough water to float a canoe. It would be really tight in a lot of spots for a kayak paddle but yes it is gorgeous.

    This Morning With the Wife

How do you always run into rattlers? I have seen a total of two in the pines in almost 40 years of roaming them and one of them was DOR. Did you just notice the snake or did it rattle at you?

    Fly advice from PBXer's!

Always run to the shade/swamp to get relief from flies. Then the skeeters can take over where they leave off and they hunt by scent so if you don't have deet your screwed no matter what:-)

    Fly advice from PBXer's!

Flys like dark colors, black being their favorite.Wear white, really their not as fond of it,especially greenheads. Also flies hunt by sight and detect air currents. If your in the woods and their killing you, seek shade, preferably a cedar swamp and become as still as you can. They are attracted to...

    Upper Wading River

I"ve always wanted to do the Wading above Speedweel but besides walking small portions I have yet to boat it. I would agree whole heartedly though with Gabes choices.I"ve done all those except the Sleeper and I"ve walked many sections of that stream that were gorgeous.Have had a look at Risleys...

    Weymouth "Lake"

The ruins of the furnace masters house and a couple others are across the street (upstream) from the city park. There are some really big trees upstream as well. It's some kind of preservation property up there and is legal to walk through.

    Paradise Lake/Camp Jam

Johnny Paradise Lakes is a Private exception in the Wharton Property unless Wharton has bought it recently.Guy would probably be current on that more then I am but I do remember finding some of the stones that surround the property along with their accompanying state monuments.
