The water is pure with very little vegetable matter or tannins in it,no mud on bottom which is why many barrens streams appear black or reddish if the bottom is sandy and the water full of tannins. Blue comes from the fact that blue light scatters more easily then other colors of the spectrum...

    Fire !

On the last SAT's I took I did better then 97% of High school seniors (I took this in my late 30's) in Reading Comprehension but unfortunately by grammar and punctuation leave some what to be desired. I always loved to read but hated English and it still shows.

A pond, a stream, and bog

The upper Tulpe is easier to access from the south side.I know one way to get to it fairly easy from the north side but involves quite a hike and you still end up swamping the last 50 yards or so. When you decide to hit the Tulpe let me know and I"ll send you some easy access points (maps of...

A pond, a stream, and bog

Awesome Jon! Makes me want to head out that way and revisit a few islands in the Tulpe swamp. You'd have some great opportunities along the Tulpe mainstream itself. The bogs your shooting are along the Featherbed Branch but the mainstream is gorgeous as well.

    Spring Ephemerals

Botanists use flags like that to mark plant locations but I don't think this is it.They are obviously in an X pattern with one more through the center.I"d suggest maybe an aerial marker of some sort for Orthoimagery reference when aligning aerials taken from aircraft or satellite but thse would...
