    Blue Angels and Thunderbirds

We have a dichotomy here. You say (of one sighting) you KNOW it was not of this earth, but you are still skeptical (doubt).

    Blue Angels and Thunderbirds

Hank, you are saying that unidentified flying objects exist, and you have personally seen them, but you are unsure if they are extraterrestrial (not originating from Earth). Do I have that right?

    Blue Angels and Thunderbirds

Well...I've been on aircraft carriers a couple times during flight operations, and was on a Navy Base for 38 years. Many of the officers over me were former pilots. They are not supreme beings. Intelligent yes, I"ll give them that, but they are human. I was on the 3rd deck of the Eisenhower, and...

    Blue Angels and Thunderbirds

How do you feel about that video Jon? Do you think it's a UFO? I think it's odd how I feel about it. I neither believe it nor disbelieve it. I guess it's hard to switch from never seeing one (and therefore conditioned to not believe) to actually seeing one and believing.

But Tony, really what are you missing? It was private property anyway.

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

Here's my actual tracks for that day, 2 Feb. It is about 3.5 miles down and back. Lot of walking in soft sand and ruts.

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

By the way, it's not common knowledge, but that area is a Natural Heritage Priority site. There are places that can be classified as pine plains type in that area. This is from the document: Locational Information Quad Name: Brookville ; Forked River ; Woodmansie ; Keswick Grove ...

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

Yes, they are doing a lot of work. They are proud they got it. It will be a centerpiece of their park system. They are spending a lot of time on a detailed management plan. Word on the street is they "may" allow driving close to the mountain, at least from one side, with parking spaces. The big...

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

Yes, we did in fact dip down into the Deep Hollow Branch on both fire cuts. It's clearly evident when you do, but it was dry. I doubt it would ever have water above ground where we crossed. We also dipped down a tad on the other dry leg of that branch. I think the fire cuts are 500 feet apart...

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

A friend and I (about 6 weeks ago?) walked all the way down one firecut to where it ended, and back up another one. It's a considerable distance. About like this below if I recall.

Oh, I'm sorry. I was only trying to point out that you put the pointer here below Pancoast Road. I think at that point on the map, they were separate. At some point they of course were separate.

I knew a railway extended north through Lacey, but never heard that name. You are pointing to the Tuckerton railroad. No? The tracks on the east side head north through Lacey and other points.

Pussy willows in the pines? I used to have a tree in my front yard, but that was likely planted there.

    Emmor W. Mick

Hmmm. I made cider for him one autumn season in 1972. I used to hitchhike there every morning from Presidential Lakes. I should have been in college, but we had no money for that and things at home were a mess.

    Beck's Travels

I recall searching for a plane in the swamp along Bisphams Mill Creek just downstream from Presidential Lakes. I thought I read that in one of Becks books. I was in my early 20's I think.

    Emmor W. Mick

That is an unusual first name. Maybe the grandfather of the man who started this business in Vincentown was somehow in the family. https://www.emmorworks.com/about

5 charged with setting bonfire that ignited forest fire that burned 11K acres of N.J. Pinelands

It occurred to me this morning in the shower (just popped in my head) that during our Papoose explore in 2012 we did come upon several survey cuts in that area and took photos. At least one must be the boundary of Penn State Forest rectangle. Also, note on the second photo below there is a...

Probably to block the way up to the mountain. The reason the north side is eroding is because of the thrill seekers.

Forest fire burns roughly 1,000 acres in Cumberland County; fire not under control

I'm not just looking for rarities. Burns open up the forest floor to sunlight, and maybe that awakens some dormant seeds. I love seeing the regeneration too.

Not yet Al. I want to see the plants that come up by September. Plus, I'm working on the house. Thanks anyway.
