Burlington County Sandy Victims Victimized by System

I don't know why they are so shocked by the damage. The property is mapped by FEMA as being completely within the 100 year floodplain limits, the name of the homestead is "Swamp Fox" and the photo in the article shows that they live inside of an Atlantic white cedar swamp.

Not the Blue Hole Again ?

I went there over twenty years ago with a friend and it was a total dud. It is brown, not blue and looks like any other small pond in the pines.

Not the Blue Hole Again ?

Yet another article about what I personally feel is one of the dopiest legends in the pines. http://www.courierpostonline.com/story/news/local/south-jersey/2015/01/28/weird-nj-legends-of-the-blue-hole-in-south-jersey/22480421/

    anyone do truck recovery? help!

Nice work Bob, you are a good man for coming to his aid ! Glad to hear all is well Doug. This is also a testament to the integrity of Ben's site and the type of people who we have here; woods worthy and willing to help. Had this been some other random internet site or maybe even Facebook, Bob...

    anyone do truck recovery? help!

I just talked to him too Bob. I gave him a phone number for Barnegtat Wreckers. If they don't have something capable they might have some local contacts. I just realized where he was and Jimmy's in Hammonton won't be of help to him. i thought he was in Penn Swamp not Penn State Forest.

    anyone do truck recovery? help!

Try Jimmy's Lakeside in Hammonton. They have some heavy duty towing rigs and deuces but I don't know if they do off road. 609-561-1718

    Weather on the way...

I am putting away the snow blower and breaking out the dust brush. The snow here didn't even fill in last night's dog prints out back.

Now it's really serious. The NJDEP will issue emergency permits for the governmental dumping of removed snow. For this event only. There is a permit for everything it seems. At least here in NJ there is. I wonder if they had to temporarily redirect staff away from the critical Geocache...

    NJ State Policy for Geocaching

I just found my 60 CSX in one of my liner pockets in a hunting coat. It was very frustrating to have gone all the way back there and come back without the mission being accomplished. Especially when it was our own cache that I couldn't find. Bob, I did take in a sharp breath but the exhale was...

    NJ State Policy for Geocaching

Well it was not a good day. I couldn't find my Garmin 60 CSX in the house this morning so I took my old Magellan 315. It's a rope start with the smallest countdown increment of distance being 0.01 miles. I went with just my dog Murphy because my wife got called into work. We had to hoof and...

    NJ State Policy for Geocaching

We are going to go out today to repair one that is in need of maintenance. When we are done, we will post the update to the Geocaching website. I am interested to see if the site will give us any feedback on the new State policy when we log it.

    Weather on the way...

German, it was one of those days that won't soon be forgotten. Literally clouds of Canadas coming in waves. It reminded everyone of snows. We weren't exactly on the X today but we were in the same field where the X was located and that was good enough to pull down a 9 man limit of 27 birds by...

    Weather on the way...

Looks like mostly rain by daybreak where I'll be. Towing the decoy trailer may be a little squirrelly early a.m.

    Weather on the way...

Yikes, I might make the papers tomorrow : "Pestletown man crashes in pursuit of geese." Just can't pass on a day with such gloom and doom conditions. It's the last day of regular Canada season and the birds should be suicidal.

    NJ State Policy for Geocaching

Most people are lazy and many have a natural aversion to a stick in the eye. Therefore, the amount of remote woodland disturbance is self regulating and is inversely proportional to the distance measured from a cache to a road. (Big distance = Small disturbance) Our most remote cache was placed...

    NJ State Policy for Geocaching

You got that right. I have been very impressed and pleased with the progress the State has made on illegal dumping in State Forests and WMA's of late. I would really like to see the few slugs that are going to be delegated to the NJ Geocache Review Team be redirected to the NJ Let's Get Shingles...

    NJ State Policy for Geocaching

No Gibby. Below is the text of that bill. Even as slow as the wheels of the lawmakers move, I don't think it would take 11 years to see action from that bill. I just showed all of this Geocaching policy crap to my wife and she is furious. http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2004/bills/a2000/1930_I1.HTM
