Yikes, I might make the papers tomorrow :
"Pestletown man crashes in pursuit of geese."

Just can't pass on a day with such gloom and doom conditions. It's the last day of regular Canada season and the birds should be suicidal.

The NWS forecast for my area doesn't sound too bad…

Tonight: Snow before 1am, then rain. Low around 31. South wind 5 to 11 mph becoming east after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain, mainly before 5pm. High near 41. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Looks like mostly rain by daybreak where I'll be. Towing the decoy trailer may be a little squirrelly early a.m.

I've sat out this season anyway due to an injury followed by surgery, but if you went out in this stuff you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! In my youth, perhaps, but I'm gettin' too old! :)

Nothing but rain down here. I heard Joe Bastardi from Accuweather on Fox Business yesterday though, and he said February would be really bad, like last year with sub-zero temperatures. Sure hope he's wrong….

A lot of the forecasters are calling for cold, beginning next week, not sub-zero though. Time to split more wood

And some are now calling for a storm with some snow accumulation, maybe a lot.

German, it was one of those days that won't soon be forgotten. Literally clouds of Canadas coming in waves. It reminded everyone of snows. We weren't exactly on the X today but we were in the same field where the X was located and that was good enough to pull down a 9 man limit of 27 birds by 9:30.

The weather was much nicer than forecasted and it really only rained when we were setting decoys in the dark. After that it was a heavy mist with an occasional raindrop. It was comfortably warm too.

I know the policy of no dead stuff pics all too well so here is a picture of my truck after making a low range, fourth gear run at 30 mph for a half mile to get through the goo on the farm road. The warm temps turned the top 4 inches into a semi-solid mess of ice chunks and poopy.

This is crazy. Why such late news on this? I'm either enjoying retirement too much and forgetting what day it is, or they seriously missed the boat on this.

6"-8" snow forecast at my place and no blizzard. I can live with that. :D

This could be a real mess for the New York City area….

Blizzard watch is from Ocean county up along the coast to the MA/NH border. Some large cities in that area. We are now up to 18" on the high side. I just may get to use that snowblower.

And on Wednesday the morning temps will be in the teens. So Wednesday and the rest of the week will be troublesome.
