    Yet another new guy

    Hi!

    danger in the pines?

I'll attest to Scotts evaluation of the risks as well. I would, however, recommend that a young girl such as yourself not go solo into the woods along Mt Misery road north of route 70. At least not after dark. Jeff

    something weird

I hear coyote all the time from my backyard. If this was a coyote it would have been alone when I heard it. It was definitely not a pack. But I certainly wouldn't rule out a coyote. Jeff

Frank's Ford, Tub Mill, and Amatol

Very Nice report and great photos! That is a beautiful pond isn't it. I've fished it to no avail. Very shallow and spaghnum filled. I might guess it was used for cranberries at one time. Also, not long ago there was an old row boat half sunken along the western shore. The water levels...

    Tires for my Jeep Wrangler

Hey Ed, I have some Cooper mud tires on my Bronco. They are way way better than the AT BF goodrich I had on my Jeep wrangler. Nothing against BF goodrich, I think the aggressive tread is just tons better. More so for mud than sand, but generally better overall. I have 31's but I am sure you...

    something weird

I never heard nor saw any. However my neighbor saw a black bear cross 70 near my old house and he is a reliable witness. Coyote, piebald deer, lots of turkeys all over. A friend who grew up in Pemberton claims that a large bobcat killed two of his goats. Jeff

    something weird

After I heard the soundbites provided by Grendel I reconsidered that what I heard might have been two foxes instead of a fox and a cat. If you go to that fox sound link and listen to the foxes fighting clip you will notice that one sounds very much like a cat. That being said, it would not...

    My bird feeder

I have some video footage. It isn't super clear 'cause it was done from inside through a screen on the window but I will try to upload a short snipet. Jeff

    My bird feeder

I did. This bird feeder gets a much larger variety of birds. Maybe because the woods on my property is oak-pine instead of pine-oak as it was at my old house.

Yes I do. I set it up last night and checked it this morning. Nothing. but I will keep you posted. Jeff

    something weird

Thanks for the sound link. Listening to it, I would say it is highly likely it was a territorial growl from a fox that I heard. If you listen to that sound bite, you can hear how human it is. Also, there is a sound bite of two foxes fighting... I am now thinking that a cat was not involved in...

    Tuckerton Fish Factory

That is interesting. It brings to mind that old shack that is down that road on the mullica, just by where you get on/off the parkway at exit50 from route 9 (the route 9/parkway extension). I've been down that road to the rustic old shack and garage back there. I guess it is privately owned...

    My bird feeder

A red bellied woodpecker and black and white warbler have been visting my bird feeder daily. Very nice! Jeff

    something weird

It is late Friday night. I was just in the back yard. Out of nowhere in the woods behind my house comes this freaky noise. Sounded strangly human, a mid frequency, agressive, scream, almost a growl. Next thing I know I hear a cat (probably my neighbors) screaming back as though being...

I haven't heard of that either. Where did you come across the term.

Nice report. I have thought of kayaking out there myself but never got around to it. How smelly was it?

    Puddles

Yeah, it looks that way to me also, but because they are doing it on enduro bikes I guess you could call it cross trainning. I suspect these are enduro guys who get into shape by practicing trials techniques. Makes sense. Jeff

    Puddles

Sure. My mud tires are 31's. And I hear you about the guys with the 38's and 40's rutting it up. As far as winches go; I broke a few cheap chinese come alongs before I got an old industrial grade 3 ton engine hoist. It is old and built to last forever and can pull anything out sideways...
