Exploring Along The Wesickaman Creek Near Atsion

I forgot who made that reply.I thought Guy said it was gum.I was out there looking for a cedar snuggled up to a gum and I remember thinking that didn't look like gum bark. When i found the tree I said that is definitely not gum bark.I looked up and seen beech leaves which is much more common down...

You know I didn't realize that was the same creek and that it crosses 206 and wraps around the Ranger Station.I was thinking the Wesickaman crossed the road bordering Atsion lake and ran in there.I see I am in error.

What is this sound? Frog? Bird?

Guy I have them in my yard. They seem to prefer oak forests though I have found them in pine trees. They are very cryptic and blend in with oak bark very well. They can be mistaken for a bird but birds excepting a very few kind shut up at dusk where these bad boys just get louder and more numerous.

Exploring Along The Wesickaman Creek Near Atsion

Awesome! Looks like a very hard stone.Probably too hard for the surveyor to cut deep with whatever He had.Was this a stone we were originally looking for out there. All I remember is a dangerous trek across a frozen section of swamp that had ice too thick to stomp through but too thin to bear my...

    Forest Fire at Atsion

by that photo looks like quaker bridge road would pass right through it.they should've waited for the fire ,it would have taken those beetles out instead of the carnage the state reeked.Still haven't figured out how dropping trees in piles with the bark still on em gets rid of beetles.

    Definition of a Piney

As a sort of related aside. When you say that some people like to be called Pineys and others resent it it's the same with the term Hillbilly.Folks in Tennessee and North carolina resent the term Hillbilly thinking that folks are calling them ignorant and backwards whereas in West Virginia most...

    North, South or Central?

Physiographically I"d say the outer and inner coastal plains would be south and the Piedmont and Ridge and valley would be north. I think that mirrors my earlier post from Bordentown to Raritan mouth.
