    another barren night

A striking collection of greens, Whip! I especially like their beautiful gold-rimmed eyes. CanNOT understand why they didn't take the pizza lure -- broccoli would have been a nice match. The spider shot is remarkable, but the guy in the painting gets my vote for "Best of Show." He's outstanding...

    another barren night

Whip, you couldn't have chosen a more beautiful setting to showcase this most beautiful of frogs. (The textures and colors of the bark make for really cool details.) Love how you caught him in several different poses. Looking at the way this frog is spraddle-legged on the trunk makes me wonder...

    So, whatcha want?

Anything Colonial and Pine Barrens/South Jersey, especially if there's a focus on medical/herbal/local lore (Lenape?) remedies for the many ills they suffered. Might not be doable, might not be of general interest, but that's what I'm curious about these days. :) Thanks much Ben, for even...

    A carpet of Sand Myrtle

Beautiful! Remember when your wife showed me a lone plant of Sand Myrtle at Parker Preserve? My first. I later found a whole swath of it, not far from the Tulpe, and couldn't believe the lovely effect. What a bright contrast the teaberry makes! Thanks for these photos! Glo

    Mary Ann Forge

I admire how you pull map sections together to illustrate and illuminate a piece of history. Mary Ann Forge--even the name invites me to explore. Another ghost has been edged toward daylight, thanks to you! Glo

The Early Swedes in New Jersey

Thank you, Ben, for this interesting summary. The variety of people-groups in South Jersey's early days continues to fascinate me. If you ever find any bits of information about the Huguenots as early settlers, please let me know--or better still, write an article about them! Glo

    The Story of Quaker Bridge

I've heard and seen many bits of history about this bridge--so nice to see a professional and coherent account of its story that I can rely upon. Loved hearing from Leah Blackman, as you know . . . someday I'll have her journals on my shelf. Thank you for sharing this! Glo

    another barren night

Funniest thing . . . I saw these same frogs (and heard them -- what a treat) but you've given them your up-close-and-personal treatment, quite effectively! The Fowler looks perfectly villainous--I can't wait to put him into a book. Glo

    right behind you

Thank you, Bob. I had fun writing that book. Credit our Black Lab for the dog-with-frog scenario. He could carry a duck in his mouth without ruffling a feather. You nailed the artist's technique. I was a little worried when he told me how he was going to illustrate the book, but his sample for...

The Lure of the Land - A photographic journey through the pine barrens, New Jersey’s

Beautiful, beautiful Tulpe, and you have proved that even its tannins are lovely! I was out the other day trying to capture the squared-ness of those cranberry bogs and I like the way you did it . . . and how you arranged the clouds above -- LOL. Yes, please, more to come! Glo
