No more fun in the Pines

I met some rangers about two weeks ago. I was with some friends that had massive 4x4's and it appeared that we were off the trail (although it was all just sand, no damage). Anyway, the rangers were terrific and treated us very well. I really had lost track and not realized that we were off...

Glouco man gets 8 years in pair of crimes

I wonder what clues they used to catch the guy. They mention a video tape, but never say how they got it.

What kind of snake is this?

Yes, I think he was a bit cold. :) It seemed like he was catching the last rays of sun that he could. I just watched him and took the pics as he slowly slithered to the other side of the trail under some leaves and brush. I have owned tons of snakes in my time, but it's just really special...

What kind of snake is this?

I was walking the nature trail at Atsion Lake and ran into this fella sunning himself on the trail. I guess he was around 30". Does it looks like a Pine Snake or a King Snake? Is it something else? http://forums.njpinebarrens.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=350&pos=0...

ATV park plan in for bumpy ride

Ah, if that is the case, then I see this as a good thing. I haven't raced at Atco Raceway in quite some time, but don't they have a motorcross track there now? I know if I had a dirt bike, that's where I'd be. :) I think they even have a quater midget track too. Hmm... I'll have to get...

ATV park plan in for bumpy ride

Definitely. I totaly agree with that. I've just read from other threads here that Rangers can pretty much pull you over wherever they want and write you a ticket depending on what kind of day they are having. Sorry, I don't mean to get this thread off course or hi-jack in any way.

ATV park plan in for bumpy ride

Yes, if they are operating on state owned roads, they sure as heck should be registered and insured without a doubt. My only fear is that once this off-road park is constructed are they then going to restrict vehicle access to the Pines even further? I wonder if this park is going to have...

ATV park plan in for bumpy ride

I just think there are too many grey areas as to where is legal and where is not legal. I have seen ONE sign in the Pines that said no motor vehicles were allowed past that point. That's totally fine. I'll stick to already made trails elsewhere. The real threat to the Pines is the litter and...

No more fun in the Pines

Trailhead00, thanks for the tip on the license plate. However, I have already blurred it out using Photoshop as I don't want anyone knowing exactly what it is. :) I will continue exploring, although being so new, I still have lots of areas to get familiar with. In my opinion, I am well...

No more fun in the Pines

Does anyone know approximately how many rangers are scouring Wharton at any given moment? I am new to the pines and haven't met a ranger in any way, shape or form. However, I do drive a lifted Jeep now and am hoping that I will not be stereotyped as being a destructive wheeler. I really...

    The Timber aka "Pine" Rattlesnake

How poisonous are the rattlesnakes that are found in the Pines? Do you have like minutes to live or?

    Fishing help

Jeff, Yes, I read that thread and it was very interesting. I had no idea that there were chubsuckers in the Pines. In fact, the only fish that I have pulled out so far are Pickerel, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. I started fishing the Pines early this year, before I found this site. I had no...

Woodshed Restaurant and Bar - where is it?

I have heard a lot about this place and would like to go pay it a visit sometime. I know it's on rt. 72 somewhere, but not exactly sure where. Does anyone know an intersection that it is located by? :guinness:

    Fishing help

Yes, it sounds like you know that bridge. :) I usually cast directly into those lilly pads. This is my first year fishing in the pines. It was a fairly productive area in the beginning of the season and I'm really looking forward to what the fall will bring. Earlier this year, I was fishing...

    Fishing help

I saw this thread and just had to resurrect it. As the weather is starting to cool now, the Pickerel fishing should increase. I usually start out on Quaker Bridge Road and just drive all around through there, finding streams, etc. to fish at. I use all ultra-light gear, with 4lb. test. I may...

    Picnic

I am sorry I missed it, but being a new member to the forums, I don't know if I would have known that many people. ;) I would love a chance to explore with some of you at some point.
