Photos from my trip.....
Thought I would share some shots from my Batona Hike..The heat made it rough going and yes regardless of the chemicals I was saturated in I got ticked and chiggered but it was all worth it in the end.

Tomorrow I will be down camping in the pines in preparation for the Batona this weekend ,I am pysched........This will be my true test for chigger immunity................
Couple shots from my day. First a short list of things I did not see.
1)Ticks 2)Chiggers 3)Bears 4) Big Foot 5)The Jersey Devil 6)Sexual Deviates 7)Gang Members 8) Many other people 9)Rain
Atsion Trail Start
Rope Swing or noose?
Batsto trail ends.
Maybe ticks and chiggers are just attracted to certain body odors.........
I will be out on the Mullica River Trail, this Saturday if anyone is interested in a long day hike.
Oh.. I got spray for clothing........And 100% Deet for any exposed skin......Any which way only a couple weeks left till my hike and I am amped. The Pine Barrens is a place like no other.
No really........He hiked at Lebanon Saturday..........No spray......No ticks...No chiggers.........
I was up at the Stonetown Circular near Wanaque and no ticks.....but after went over to the Torne and had a couple ticks on me there....
I know with me that over the counter pills do nothing when I feel ill....
Duct tape works better than moleskin and I have used it as a band aid several times....It also does a great job of holding my current trail runners together.......
I was wondering what everyone drags along with them in the outdoors. I use to carry everything but the kitchen sink now I carry duct tape and tweezers and thats about it.
Funny because I have been using Ultrathon the past couple years when I feel it is needed and I have been tickless and LYME free. also I am tested once a year. And that product only uses 34% deet.........
After my past couple Pines hikes. I will be wearing a nice coat of 100% deet and hiking with tweezers in hand. I am opting out of carrying a purifier and instead will refill at Batso, Batona Campsite Area and at Pakim Pond..I carry a 3 liter reservoir and may add 2 nalgene bottles to the mix...
Depends on the friend........how fast you hike and how fast they hike... I prefer hiking/backpacking alone unless I am confident the other person/people will either keep the same pace or hike faster......
Also knowing basic first aid and cpr is a plus in a hiking partner....Weird things can...
fROM A MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL SITE.
Mount Misery Trail (aka White Trail): The trail links up with the Cranberry trail. There is some elevation gain (60 feet) to the south where there are opportunities for biking on higher, more compact soil. This trail has many branches which can cause some confusion.
