Apple Pie Fire Tower - Fence/Gate being installed?

My back deck in Gandys Beach is a perfect spot. If it wasn't for Dover AFB across the way it'd be pitch black.

I didn't notice it gone for about thirty minutes, but I put my phone down on the hotel lobby counter next to me and was looking at a map of the area. Someone must have copped it then. My gf couldn't believe a canadian would steal haha.

    Downeast Maine

I went on a late summer road trip up north before I had to get back to teaching. Me and the lady drove to Portland for the night, hiked the Pemetic Mountain Trail up at Acadia, went on to Saint John in New Brunswick (where my cell was stolen) and hiked a really nice trail at Fundy National...

    Dennis?

Al, New Kuban is a village that was settled by mostly Russians from the Don Region (think far eastern Ukraine and areas north of the Caucasus Mts.). When my dad first came to America, that's where he stayed for about a year. Needless to say it far from his expectations of what America was...

Do you live in a redneck town

As a lifelong resident of Vineland (who just recently moved to Smithville), I would absolutely say those Millbillies in Millville are way more redneck. Especially as you move further south into Maurice River Twp., Laurel Lakes, Delmont, Heislerville, Dorchester, Leesburg, as Manumuskin already...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

And thats ok, I think its healthy to have different perspectives otherwise we are left with homogenous points of view. I will absolutely stand with whomever is fighting, but I don't think its beneficial to make individuals feel "guilty" about what they believe. For instance, I am against the...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I agree with Boyd and smoke_jumper. Not necessarily my fight (that would be this pipeline nonsense), but I understand the various points of view. I think there are ways to include as many voices as possible and reach a middle ground (tenuous at best) but the unilateral decisions that are being...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

PPA sent an email this morning. Some highlights: "The state released a plan to protect the forest by placing some roads off-limits to motorized vehicles in August while leaving 225 miles open for vehicles. Unfortunately, due to opposition from some motorized recreationists, the final plan...

    Drought conditions

Sometimes a dry slot occurs when there is heavy precipitation to the west. At that point there was some incredible downbursts in eastern Maryland causing the hole in the rain shield. Same principal occurred this past winter on one of the days we were forcast to get over half a foot but ended...

How did you get your screen name?

I remember reading in Mints' "The Great Wilderness" that the name Buckshutem came from the part of the Maurice River where boaters had to either "buck" or "shoot" (not sure what that even means) the fast moving water coming in from Laurel Lakes. This may be apocryphal, as much of Mints' book...

How did you get your screen name?

I chose mine because the Menantico is the creek I grew up near, and also a tip of the hat to Al (manumuskin) for being a knowledgable guy and holding down Cumberland County proper.
