    Mystery solved.

If you look at a topo it would seem that the Cooper begins behind the quarry in Gibbsboro. I have no idea what it looks like there but I would imagine it's just a trickle. I've only kayaked the section between Kaign Ave and Grove Street. There are other sections that can be paddled but I doubt...

Suggestions for introducing a new person to the pines

Definitely Friendship. Always beautiful there. Maybe Oswago Lake. Washington is always nice and of course Mount. You've got to go to Apple Pie Hill and up the tower so she can get an eye full of the Pines. It's too bad that it has been so dry that the Pines are a little drab right now. Steve

    Mystery solved.

While kayaking the Cooper this evening something in the sky caught my eye. It was not a bird nor plane. It was, apparently, a shipment of balloons headed for the Pines. I've always wondered why we find so many of those damn thing in the Pines. Sorry for the bad photo. Steve

    camping help!

Bodine Field would be good. Also there is the wilderness camping on the Mulica. You need to kayak or go hores back to get there. Just be advised that there is a campfire ban right now in the Pines and I'm sure the little bit of rain we got the other night did nothing to make it better. Steve

    Forked River Mountains under water.........

Yep, we went by there. I will try to get them back out into the Pines later in the Fall when there is less danger of chiggers. We really did not do much more than drive around. I gotta get them into the Pines. Steve

    Forked River Mountains under water.........

Here are some of the fossils I found. #1 is a scallop that my daughter's boyfriend, John, thinks may be the actual shell embedded in the rock. If you look at the bottom right you can see where some of the stone is gone yet the imprint of the shell is still there. #2 is a barnacle...

    Red Road...

It is Stevenson Rd. It runs from Rt 72 to Sims Place. Red Rd is only a nickname for it because of the red clay that was used to make it. Steve

    Forked River Mountains under water.........

......a long time ago. Saturday, while giving my daughters and their friends a tour of the Pines I took them to FRM. My oldest daughter's boyfriend, who is into finding fossils, found a fossilized barnacle. Within 20 minutes he and I found about 15 more. We also found rocks with the imprint...
