Hiking Trails, Wheelchairs, Bicycles and the ADA

There is already a PPA project to encourage more accessible trails for people with disabilities. They have also catalogued the ones that exist today on a map. A lot of these trails are ADA compliant, but ADA compliant does not necessarily mean you can ride a bicycle there. The map tells you...

Environmentalists Enraged by 'Unauthorized' Dumping of Truckloads of Soil from North Jersey on Property in Pemberton Twp. Wetlands - and Delay in Halt

A good example of an issue where I am fully in agreement with Emile and Jason. Every aspect of this situation sounds shady, and for DEP to just completely abdicate responsibility for actual soil testing and hand wave away any concerns really is ridiculous. Who normally pays for testing as part...

    Odd Rumbling Sounds

I am up in Central Jersey today, but I have felt and heard a similar thing before. I posted a thread about it last year: https://forums.njpinebarrens.com/threads/sonic-booms.14326/ Also worth mentioning that the joint base lists high noise levels for today. Could possibly be related...

    Powder in the Pines

Thanks, Bob. That morning will probably be my favorite of the year.

    Powder in the Pines

With the weather warming once again, a look back on my favorite season to be in the woods.

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Well, not before it's finished clinical trials, no. If it's fully approved and proven to be effective and well tolerated, possibly.

Post Your Old Car Finds Here

Not deep into the woods at all but here is one I found behind Lake Pine in Medford in April 2006. Really not much left. There used to be a geocache right next to it, which is what brought me here.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I really do think all of Wharton is important, though, and I think others did as well. "Pollute" was maybe not the right word to use, because submissions for the whole area were valid. More like skew the data to make a point. When the survey did come out, I ended up not using the mapping tool...

    Fries Mill

I'm sure they must exist somewhere. A good place to ask would probably be in this Camp Hollybrook Facebook group. I can't ask myself as I do not have an account.

Change is coming to Washington Crossing

Ah yes, crossing over this bridge is quite the experience. Always have to fold the mirrors in ahead of time coming up 29, and even then, it is a crazy tight squeeze. A friend of mine scratched the side of their car up on this span just a couple weeks after buying it. I am up near Washington...

    Fries Mill

If anyone wants to see how it used to look, it's at around 4:40 in this video, which is what got me interested in going there in the first place: This also has footage of the adjacent NJ Silica Sand company ruins. I really enjoy Tom Lynskey's work; he has so many great videos on many...

    Fries Mill

Ahh, I see now. I misunderstood. I thought that one of the chimneys at the site with 2 of them had been toppled. I thought your first photo was showing some damage, but now I see that it isn't, it's just that the vines have been cleared away from it. That is interesting. I wonder why that would...

    Fries Mill

That seems suspicious. Seems pretty close together with the collapse of the single chimney that was at the ruins of the old house near the creek (I posted a photo in the first post in this thread). I wonder if someone is going back there and smashing them up. Here's what the chimney in your...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Whoops, I meant to come back to this some time ago, but got sidetracked. Here is a revision with hopefully better contrast: https://ibb.co/5Tv0yzn

An interesting prospect with likely pitfalls

It's a good point, there really is not a whole lot of parking. There is a small dedicated lot around the back side with space for maybe four cars, and the rest of the parking would have to be on the side of the street, as you can see in that old photo I posted earlier. Maybe there would be...

    More smoke in the pines

You have to go outside the Pines, but check out Amma's (my personal favorite), Coriander, or Nimit Palace, all in Voorhees. There is a high concentration of great Indian food there. Indeblue in Cherry Hill is also worth a mention.

An interesting prospect with likely pitfalls

The best case scenario is that the person or people who buy this property have the funds to clean the place up and the talent to turn it into a successful business again. It is a long shot, but it could be done. Buzby's has a similar story and sat empty for much longer periods in its history...

An interesting prospect with likely pitfalls

It does look like it might share the same address, yes. I wonder what the story on this house is. It took me an extra second to realize that "Impizza" on the mailbox is just for Indian Mills Pizza, rather than someone's last name :)
