    Where is this?

Well, that is pretty close to Parkdale but not the structure I was thinking of...or one that I have ever been to that I can remember. Considering it is on the other side of the clarks branch I am not even certain it is related to parkdale at all.

New Guy Wants to Talk Kayaks and Canoes

Hey John, I think you will be happy with the 15' Grummen. I used to have a 17' grumman but it was a bit too long for pine barrens waterways. I have a 13'8" kayak and 14' canoe that get around very well now. Grummans are nice and light and can really take a beating. The aluminum is not the...

    Where is this?

I almost want to say parkdale, but I don't think that is quite right. Perhaps it is the angle from which the pic was taken.

I have not been on in a while and obviously missed some good "where is this" photos. That is along the bogs near Buckingham, south of the RR. that photo is looking south I believe. Jeff

    Jersey Devil Alternate Origin

The theory that the Jersey Devil is a region specific boogyman...created with the purpose of controlling careless wandering amoung children. This would have been far more important in an area like the pine barrens than more urban areas. The inclusion of a popular and common name in the area...

    Most Worthy Effort

That is a real shame. I feel for the guy. I hope he is able to make the adjustment. It seems that stories of hunters falling out of deer stands come up often.

    Jersey Devil Alternate Origin

Interesting link Gabe. However, I don't think this theory is any more, or less plausible that some other theories. As for documented references to the Leeds Devil? I think the author could have done more research on this particular aspect of his claim. W.F Mayer published an article in 1858...

Warren Grove Bogs and Forest Fire

I went hiking with my son in the Warren Grove Bogs on Saturday. This area is property of the NJ Natural Lands Trust. A unique area with old abandoned bogs and pine plains. Part of the wading river, or oswego depending on which time period map you consult. Jack investigating a...

    Snake!!!!

I'll back up the black racer temperment. I used to catch them growing up in monmouth county and it was always a stand off. i used to hold up my left hand to distract them and then quick snatch with my right. I could never tail catch them because if I was 4' or closer they would always confront...

    Peggy Clevenger of Pasadena

Thanks for the interesting write up Gilberto. I wonder how your great, great, great grandmother would have reacted, if she had known then that she would for ever live on in piney folklore as a witch!LOL. Most, if not all, folklore has origins in reality and it is particularly cool when real...
