It's a romantic notion, but I wouldn't underestimate the challenge of making any money on a place like that. Depends on the initial capital investment and debt costs, naturally. It's small, it doesn't have much parking, and other than on certain festival days tourist traffic is fairly light.

That makes more sense to me, Jerseyman. Shallow pits with irregular walls would not be anywhere near as stand-out visible as a regular grid of square diggings.

I spent an hour looking at various aerials and satellite imagery, but it's just too easy to engage in wishful seeing. Artifacts in raster images often have regular features, which makes it difficult to assert that the few possibles I spotted were real features of the landscape. If these tanks...

I may do a second slideshow at some point, but rather than use my own images I'll solicit images from others. There are some pretty big holes in what I have. I don't have any shots of the midlands, the Hunt Country, or the shore (that are good enough to post).
