    Military Fox Hole

My hunch is that this upland area is gravel-rich, possibly with ironstone, which could have been excavated for a number of reasons Mulliner's loot.

That's because the maps are off from each other about 50 ft. Take a look at this corner of Rockwood and see how it shifts about 50 ft to the south-west: https://boydsmaps.com/#19.00/39.697143/-74.721344/njgin2002/0.00/0.00

    The rectangular thing

It doesn't show in 1940. Likely just an artifact, like this nearby rectangle: https://boydsmaps.com/#18.00/39.693116/-74.697092/njgin1930/0.00/0.00

It's also 20 ft in diameter. Too big for beaver. No pun intended.

Using the lidar elevation tool, I'm seeing a depth of 4 ft. @Boyd, can you speak to the accuracy of the lidar elevation?

Bob, I had wondered about this before, and my thought is that it is a borrow pit for a causeway on this old road: https://boydsmaps.com/#16.00/39.689518/-74.715691/historic62k/0.00/0.00

    Hampton upper forge?

Nice work, Fellas. Fun stuff! The raceway is evident in the 1980 IR photos: https://boydsmaps.com/#18.00/39.766669/-74.677998/njgin1980/0.00/0.00 Superchooch, I take it that by "flat spot" you are simply referring to the earthen dam? There should be plenty of forge slag around. May be under...
