    Any good herping areas

Hey it's me Steve. Good point to make about the habitat. Maybe some of the "crew" should take your advise about the handling of herps though as it is illegal. There isn't a double standard just for him is there? Sorry to vent but laws are laws.

    Cougar vs Bear

I think the gorilla may win against a big cat but against a bear it's a tough call.

    Snake ID

I've probably seen a hundred kings in the Barrens over the years but that one looks more like it's better looking relatives from the Carolina's. It could be that the water is making it look a little better but the yellow appears wider than normal for N.J. kings.

    Mountain Lions in the Pines

He said it had a mane so the cougar/mountain lion/ puma thought's not even considered.

    Hawk shooting

What gives people in N.J. a bad rap is the nuts who claim they will shoot a human being with them for things other than personal protection. :bang:

    Today's trip 12/30

 If anyone thinks that they know how to combat the forces of mother nature they're just plain wrong. When the wind or water wants to take you it will. Why? Because you're no match for it's strength. At that point it really doesn't matter what gear you're wearing.

    Hawk shooting

You're right. I think that the chances of these culprits being "sportsman" are slim. This is probable the work of some destructive idiots with a shotgun.

jersey devil video , has anyone seen this ?

I don't think that the Weird N.J. books do any more than cause tresspassing. The pines have been vandalized and trashed way before the books were around. The locals do more drinking and littering in the woods than anything else. Maybe they do it out of being bored but they do it a lot.

    Hunting Seasons Begin 9-13-08

The point is that accidents happen and a tan hunting jacket is about the same color as a dear. Yes, everyone should know what they're shooting at but again accidents happen.

I feel to see the reason people tear up the terrain by "wheelin".

    Bobcat tracks

A bobcat leaves two-inch diameter tracks showing a heel pad, four toes and no claw marks. Its trail is very narrow because its hind feet prints lie directly on top of, or in "register" with, its forefeet prints. The trail looks as if it could have been produced by a two-legged animal. :happycat...

    Buddy Coyote

Last spring I seen one by Lebanon Lakes. It startled me a bit. After hearing this story I actually would have felt more secure if my dog was with me then. It most likely seen me way before I seen it.

    Unusual picture request

Hi everyone. I have a unusual picture request. If anyone would mind posting some nightime scenes from the pine barrens that I can use. The reason for my request is that I need a nice scene to add to a tattoo I have of a pine barrens treefrog sitting on a branch. Maybe something at around sunset...
