The one Budd saw had a pinkish hue. Not as bright as the ones he's seen in Fla. He thought it might be a juvie.

    Pair of Timber Rattlers

Bambi's better, (Shot to LB.s ratio) and you're correct, they do seem to pick on live snakes as opposed to already dead mammals on those shows. Probably less complaints from "appalled" parents watching "Rudolph the Red Nosed reign deer" with the kids, (although "shark week" doesn't seem to bring...

    Pair of Timber Rattlers

Hey I'm just sayin' that there's dolcile and there's aggressive, and when I step on a "dolcile" TR, I reserve the right to "aggressively" soil my breeches! (And it doesn't matter if it's shedding or not 'cause I'm not sticking around to check!) My quest for "it tastes just like chicken" is not...

    Riding to Atsion in 1773

And on top of that, they "helped" stay healthy by leeching / blood letting, taking coal oil / kerosene for "worming", drinking bad liquer and having bad food (summer fever)! Sometimes they used medicines with high doses of mercury and frequently drank from pewter vessels with high lead content...

    Riding to Atsion in 1773

And today we bitch about lousy gas milage! People lived closer to the earth then, (there was no alternative). We forget sometimes the endurance and tenacity needed for everyday living back then. Great post.

    Hot summer evening bike ride

Another great site on a place I've never been. It's amazing to see how things become history so casually, with seldom a second thought to a way of life that was established, and necessary for daily life. Thanks for the 411. "The good Lord has a certain amount of things for me to...

    Pair of Timber Rattlers

What about when they are shedding? Local lore is that they're quick to strike in August / September due to shedding. (Could be the heat of the season, but we stayed clear of the woods when cutting in the swamp for that reason.)

No, in these economic times probably just an "artist's rendition" on recycled paper!

    Thompsons Tidal Wave

I assume you mean horseshoe crabs. If not, them boys on the bering sea are risking it all for nothing.:bang: Good article. I never made it to Thompsons beach area, but after these references feel a need to explore! Thanks.

    Noah?...

Any site that has sulfur powder listed along with cannon fuse is a place I want to order from! My Pop-pop Wobbar used to tie kerosene or Diesel soaked rag strips at his boot tops to keep ticks out. With all the additives and fuel enhancers, that would probably kill you now. He worked roadside as...

    Swan Bay

I used to get $2 a rat in '67 - '68 when I sold to Stan McCarten in Wading river. He was a local "ratman". I got mine from the Mullica. The Wading always looked promising, but when your walking and rowing It's too far to go from Green Bank. Got a few foxes. Sold them to Walt Priest Jr.

I know they had plans for the re-use of the line from Tuckahoe to Cape May, but that was a few years back.

    swimming

Just remember, the state doesn't allow swimming in unprotected areas, so if your asked by the nice constabulary, just tell them you're not swimming, just wading (which is allowed). Just taking a wild quess, it's probably a $74 fine for swimming.:taco:
