    Music for the day

Saw a great show last night Bob. Joe Eli, Ryan Bingham, and Terry Allen. All Texas singer-song writers. Bingham stole the show. Going back to the city tomorrow for this guy... Hayes Carll. Love the Texas music scene.

    Forked River Mountain Cleanup

It was a great day for the clean-up. Betsy and I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I agree, you couldn't ask for a better crew. Thanks for setting us all up Bob. Gabe, maybe running out of beverages was a good thing, we might have stayed up to dawn. Hope to see everyone again soon. Mike

Childhood shift: Most kids have stopped playing outdoors

46er is on the money.. its all in the parenting. Some parents feel its easier to buy a new video game rather than go for a walk in the woods, on a fishing trip, camping etc. Bogles my mind.

    Music for the day

Anyone ever listen to Chris Knight from Kentucky? Since we have the cleanup Sunday Ill post this.. the opening lines always remind me of Forked River Mt. The videos dark but its the best sounding one I could find. Another if you like him.

Back from the dead with a question...Anyone camp/explore Delaware Water Gap NRA?

Welcome. Based on your location, you must live near Steve Earle... cool. Mt. Tammany is a great day hike, as is the trail to sunfish pond. Both are off the interstate right before Old Mine Rd. It's trout season up there, so if you enjoy fishing, the Big Flatbrook is probably the state's best...

    A northwoods icon....

Nice post 46er. At 31 years old, Im about a "halfer" with 20 something of the peaks under my belt. Looking to notch a few more off this summer. There's quite a few peaks with unmarked trails that must be bushwacked to the summit, but from what I understand there are some herd paths from other...

Not sure you read my whole post Al. Its the nephew of Ernest Tubb and his name is Lucky Tubb. He does sound a lot like Hank III and in fact they toured a little bit together and played together as well. I like both of them, but Lucky is not quite as rowdy as Hank III can be.

    Music for the day

Bob, Love me some Bob Wills. He is very prominent in a lot of Willie Nelson's work, who I also enjoy. Bob's voice always reminds me of an old Steamboat Willie cartoon... "Take it away brother Leon!" Oji, Love the recordings. Someone should put a out a "Sounds of the Pines" cd for relaxation...

I agree 100%. Theres still a lot of new talent in country out there but Nashville and big radio wont touch them. Ive seen Asleep at the Wheel a few times live.. very good. If you like Texas swing then Im sure you know Wayne the Train. and my fav from Wayne:

    Music for the day

Good call Bob. MMJ have some great tunes too. They do some Band covers too if you havent heard them. Here's a current fav of mine by a great singer-song writer from the southwest. He won a Grammy for his tune from Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges.

    Are windmills the answer?

There were two out by us on Lacey Rd. Apparently, the propeller of one fell off and dropped some odd hundred feet. Sounds like an installment error. The township no longer allows the two different locations to operate them. Wonder how much energy those families were saving before this happened.

Hiked the Batona with Kaia :)

Hi Karl, not sure if you saw my other post, but I was wondering about the coyotes along the trail. Id love to bring my pointer along for 3 nights this Spring but wouldnt want him to attract trouble. I see you didnt use a tent.. did you tie your guy up at night? Thanks for thoughts. Mike

Hey Bob, trying to decide on the pick-up or the 4 runner. Will we be packing trash out w us or is that left for someone else? Thanks.

    NJ Trout season opens Saturday

I fish the Beaverkill pretty often but on the NY side. The VT side always seemed to have less fish. I never got the chance to fish the wild trout streams in VT because the ones in the Dacks kept me busy. Always wanted to though. Sounds pretty much the same with the beaver ponds and...
