    Abandoned guinea pig at Carranza

Nice job Ed and Gipsie. Karma seems like a well fitting name. I hope the jerk that dumped her gets a taste of it! You should get the pig watching "My Name is Earl"? Its a funny show and is all about karma. Best of luck.

    Check your basement

Many times the winter will produce more moisture in living quarters than the summer. When you get an inch or two of permafrost started, if it warms up quickly and happens to rain, the ground will remain frozen and the moisture cannot penetrate. Gravity will run the moisture to the lowest...

Cycling through the Pine Barrens in 1895

What a bunch of pansies back then.. no raised trucks with big ol' mud tires? All kidding aside this was a nice read. I wish we still had that many quail in these parts.

    Coal stoves

Jeff, Not trying to scare you away from the stove in any way, but this seems new to you so here's some info. Your fireplace will either need liner and/or stovepipe run up it and a chimney cap that will fit it properly. The pipe on my stove almost cost as much as the stove itself. It also...

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

46er, We have a lot in common, but I have to disagree with you 110% here. You really think that sucking in 2.2% of the bays water daily, then releasing that water at much warmer tempatures does not affect the bay's sea life significantly? Here's another an add from Monday's paper regarding...

    Coal stoves

That's my favorite part. I enjoy my heat much more because I know its all due to my hard work. There's something to be said about enjoying the fruits of your own labor. I've always been drawn to this concept. Makes me appreciate the warmth of the house more than I would otherwise.

    Coal stoves

Im putting a western-style swinging door saloon above my garage/barn. If the coal stove burns wood too Id be very interested if Jeff is not. I was going to put a wood stove up there, but Im not too fond of burning coal (and I have a surplus of wood right now for our other stove). I would look...

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

I don't think it will close either and never said it would. Im not a huge fan of it, but if they say its safe, its out of my hands. What I am saying is its wreaked havoc on our bay, where I enjoy spending a lot of my time. MD, its not that other countries should follow our lead, its that we...

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

Im not complaining about the plant.. just throwing facts out like everyone else here has been doing, but I wouldn't be bothered if they decided to shut it down tomorrow and raise my taxes. As for other countries like MD mentioned, I think too often our country looks to see what other countries...

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

The plant has already passed its life expectancy and is now opereating on a 20 year extension license. Im all for anything to make it, or its surrounding environment (me and my town of Lacey included) safer. Without the cooling tower over 2% of the bay's water is sucked in a day. I guess...
