    2007 Aerial Resolution

That's an interesting idea. But - aside from you - I doubt there are many people willing to pay. What do you think... the stats that I view suggest there are - maybe - 40 people that use the different maps of the pines in any quantity. Maybe 5 of them would pay? And how much do you want to pay...

    Hurricane Helene

Looks like a bad one for Florida. On the news they were expecting 4 to 8 feet of storm surge this evening before the hurricane even gets there, then apocalyptic predictions of 20 foot surges when it arrives. Supposed to go all the way up into the mountains of North Carolina and really hammer...

    2007 Aerial Resolution

I can't tell without an actual link, but suspect you are just zooming past the maximum resolution of that map. Look at the zoom level in the upper right corner of the screen. Level 17 is as high as that map goes. When you zoom that map to level 18, it just enlarges the level 17 map 2x; zoom to...

    Old Foundry Water Tower Ruins??

Did a quick Google search and found a few things, but they don't reveal much Superfund listing. Not much to see here. https://cumulis.epa.gov/supercpad/CurSites/csitinfo.cfm?id=0200281 OSHA inspection report on a health complaint from 1990, case was closed in 1991. There are links to two...

    Old Foundry Water Tower Ruins??

I found this in a thread from 2003, from just before they demolished that site.

    2024-25 Hunting and Trapping Seasons

Thanks, that must have been it then. If I could hear it from more than 5 miles away it must have been really loud for people who live around there!

    Old Foundry Water Tower Ruins??

I don't see it listed in the NJDEP Known Contaminated Sites dataset. Of course, that is not definitive... https://gisdata-njdep.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/njdep::known-contaminated-site-list-for-new-jersey/explore?location=39.834204,-74.519378,14.36 (OT: looks like NJGIN has updated their...

    2024-25 Hunting and Trapping Seasons

Right - which is why I asked about the Atlantic County Firearms Training Facility (link above). I know nothing about it but drove past years ago and assumed it was used by law enforcement. That was the only place I could think of where a bunch of people might do that much shooting, and the sound...

    2024-25 Hunting and Trapping Seasons

Probably a dumb question, but something I've been wondering about. Is it ever OK to bring a weapon into a WMA for target practice (aside from an actual firing range)? I assume that it's not. I sometimes hear people shooting at my place which borders on a WMA. To be fair, it's a patchwork of WMA...

    Historical landcover data

No, you will see a 2012 map, or whatever year you choose. The landcover data that is displayed here will always be from 2015, regardless of the map you view.

    Historical landcover data

Might also mention that there's this map which shows landcover info overlaid on 2017 aerials. It is based on 2012 landcover data, so there might be some variations between what it shows and the 2015 data in the XT app. Frankly, this map is kind of a mess and I will probably be deleting it at...

Hi Lynn, This question is too long to answer in a profile post. Frankly, profile posts aren't useful for much IMO. :D But I've posted a response in the boydsmaps forum here: https://forums.njpinebarrens.com/threads/historical-landcover-data.14880/

    Historical landcover data

This thread is primarily for @Lynn Cremona , but might be of interest to others. In a profile post, Lynn asked me the following question: "Is there a way to see the Atlantic White Cedar footprint in the Franklin Parker Preserve, using your maps, over the decades?" Hi Lynn! Profile posts are...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Very light rain here overnight and basically nothing this morning. At least it cut down the dust (which had gotten really bad) on the roads they recently scraped in the Peaslee WMA. Looks like the main part of the storm is headed out to sea with some smaller areas of rain in DelMarVa that might...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Wow, the forecast really seems to have changed. Currently only predicting between 1/10 and 1/4 inch of rain today and the same tonight, with less than 1/10 inch tomorrow. Guess the dry spell is going to continue.

    Pinelands Commission Question

The answer may not be so simple. I have a stream and wetlands on my own property (in Atlantic County). There's a surveyed "wetlands line" and then a 300-foot "wetlands buffer line" beyond which no clearing is allowed. So, just talking about the size of the property and the amount of clearing...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Looks like some rain may finally be coming Tuesday through Wednesday night, but still a chance of rain for the rest of the week. Predicted totals vary, with the heavier rains apparently in the Southern Pines. Right now, they estimate a range of 1 to 1.75 inches for me in Atlantic County with a...
