    Beer (again)

Ahh laddies.. this be the month for Irish celebration. Have to get in the spirit with the Guiness and whiskeys. The guiness has been flowing smoothly at our house. We also tried a six of Ipswich Oatmean Stout from Mass. It was ok, but I wouldnt buy it again. Doesnt come close to a Sammy Smith.

    Mountain Lions in the Pines

Sweet.. How much are tabs of that acid going for? Kidding, but if you saw what you're describing, I dont think it was wild. Jackson does have quite a bit of undeveloped land, but is definately growing as a township.. doubt there are African Lions there.

Fish and Wildlife doubts coyote is calf-killer

Here's another good one that goes into details as to how does react to protecting their fawns from coyotes.. a good read. Doesnt mention much about adult deer though and isnt from our exact area (western pa and ohio). http://www.ohiovalleyoutdoors.com/coyoteimpact.htm

In regards to the study in Texas, here's a site that explains how there was a major drought during the study and when the area saw more rainfall, the survival rate of fawn went up 80% http://bowsite.com/bowsite/features/articles/deer/seminars/coyotes/

Fish and Wildlife doubts coyote is calf-killer

The link seems to be talking about mostly fawns. Theres no doubt in my mind that deer isnt on the menu. I just think its a whole lot less than some of us think, especially in Jersey.

Fish and Wildlife doubts coyote is calf-killer

If some of you believe deer play a big role in the diet of the Eastern Coyote (Canis latrans var), you should pick up some reading material on the animal. Theres plenty of literature on them. Their diet is made up mostly by scavenging, as well as eating mice, rabbit, small amphibians, insects...

Fish and Wildlife doubts coyote is calf-killer

Since a lot of deer can kick their ass and are more of a problem to take down than is worth their while. Even a strong coyote pack would have trouble getting a healthy, full grown buck or doe to the ground. Thats not to say deer arent on the menu, but smaller game is first.

    Beer (again)

I've had Dead Guy Ale plenty of times, but just saw it recently in a 64 oz half gallon jug and had to pick a few up. Theres just something about muscling those big jugs up to your mouth that make it a little more fun than the regular bottle. Back in college we had a micro brew down the way...

Fish and Wildlife doubts coyote is calf-killer

You talking about yearling deer, or coyotes? Never heard of them eating their own, so Im assuming deer yearling.

Opinion "...buy it ... don't steal it....."

Ahh.. good old eminent domain! You see, just compensation is never just. It's what the state of NJ feels is just, and well, we all know the politics of our great state (the country as well). How about the people a few years back that owned beach front property and homes in Long Branch, NJ...

    Sign of springtime?

Now that you mentioned it, I've seen more this year than any other. I always considered the robbin red-breast a good sign of spring, but I saw her the other night and her breasts looked pale and saggy.. oh well.

Fish and Wildlife doubts coyote is calf-killer

My guess is you've seen them during the day. They are almost always solitary during daytime hours and out on their own resting or scavenging food. They hunt in packs at nightfall. For the most part, coyotes howl to locate one another and to get the pack together and ready for a hunt. I've...
