Went down the cape may on Sunday and was not nearly as dry as it is in core barrens. In fact the area I went to in cape may courthouse was more wet than this time last year. Was relieved to see it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting.

Wind shifted some, I can really see the source plume from my house. Assuming this is kettle as looking due west hits the spot. Looks closer though!

Probably that dumb development they built along cooper road. It’s odd it doesn’t look like they have a fire break running along it. This one could get big based solely on the polygon of containment.

I explored around beaver dam lake last year. Nice area, felt mt miseryish as you got out towards arrowhead drive. Was looking at area for possible rare snake species, no luck though.

Bob yesterday we could smell smoke on little mill by the Girl Scout camp. So near the power lines that lead into the sanctuary. There was some sort of fire over by black run yesterday as I could smell at little mill. Also something going on by kettle run today it seemed.

Guy since the wetlands are so dried out is the fire burning into cedar and other formerly wet areas? Or is it just burning the new duff that fell since July?

Al, it’s sorta like a pine snake nest with less of a fan and smaller. The eggs look like smaller racer eggs without the sand paper look. They seem to be one of the first to hatch as well usually in late August or earlier.
