    Chairville

A few months ago, I bought myself a copy of Henry Bisbee's Sign Posts; place names in history of burlington county, n.j. I've finally had a few minutes to myself thanks to the holiday weekend, and began to read this one. Despite the English teacher in me flipping out over the capitalization...

The Hamlet of Friendship and the Alloways.. The History Behind the Alloway Memorial Stone

Very nice article! Someone here might know, although don't post if its sensitive. Many years ago there was a member here and on Barry's yahoo group who lived in Friendship for a few years as a child. She was writing a book of her experiences (I remember reading one chapter that she sent to...

Jersey Devil ultimate pop culture thread

This book sounds in the same vein as Bill Sprouse's book that came out a few years ago (although likely with less research done in Wawa's at 1 AM - which is massively underutilized way to do research). I'm sure I'll add it to my collection, thank you for the heads up!

    North Branch Preserve - Pemberton

I got out of work early last Friday, so I went home, grabbed the kids, and headed to Pemberton to check out this trail system. Right off the bat - it's rough. The first hundred yards or so of trail are a bit overgrown (this gets MUCH better afterward, as you hit an old road), the markers...

    Who's up for a roadtrip?

Optimal is for suckers. I was the most rambling road trip to all the national parks. :) 29 National Parks down for me, 30 to go...

    Spotlight Article on Off-Roading

They definitely weren't documenting damage at all, just walking up and down miles and miles of fire breaks. I remember a few complaining about having to walk it. The ironic part is that this particular Scout knowingly double booked his project with a backpacking trip on the Batona Trail, so...

These might be the GPS units? From one of the project pictures.

    Spotlight Article on Off-Roading

The initial scout had asked Wharton if they had any projects, and this was one of the suggested projects. I wasn't the project coach for this project, so I'm not sure the exact reasoning behind it that was given for the purpose of the project, but to get through the approval process it would...

    Spotlight Article on Off-Roading

I know that the firecut information doesn't exist yet, one of my Scout's Eagle Projects was fundraising for GPS systems and mapping miles of firebreaks just in Wharton, and he barely scratched the surface. Had a second Eagle Project map more of those firebreaks for the state park service. It...

Jersey Devil ultimate pop culture thread

In an ongoing effort to talk to myself (so, you know, normal day for me) - a book review! Because I just finished reading it! The Jersey Devil by J.J. Crane (2015 - no publisher listed? Weird). This is a fictional account of a police detective and a reporter (that reports for what pretty...

If its under construction, its been that way for a long time. They have a facebook page too, only 10 followers (well, 11 now) and didn't post between May and October this year.

    New book (to me)

Great book, bought it at Buzbys a few years ago. There aren't a lot of pine barrens books that are first person accounts of living there, which made it really interesting.

    Hunters Moon this weekend

Tried while camping at Goshen last night. Didn't come out quite the way I wanted (or as nice as Jon's) but man, that moon was bright.
