I absolutely love this place. Since the babies showed up, it's hard to get out to the Pine Barrens like I'd like to. Black Run has been a gift. It's only minutes from where my Scout troop meets, but gives me a taste of what I'd get on a much longer trip out to a place like Chatsworth. And...

I'm nothing remotely resembling an animal rights activist, but this is just sick. There's no reason to treat a bird like this, none.

It is coming up to an open area at an old town site. If the picture was centered, you'd see an old raceway/canal along the right side of the trail. I like this shot because I've never come across the combination of red and golds in the pines anywhere else.

Not a bad first guess, but a bit too far east.

This same question bothered the crap out of me, but a few years ago I drove past an identical structure down by Rowan. It was used to hold piles of mulch, gravel, and dirt, a different one in each section. Ten years too late for this conversation, whoops.

Time to get back into this game. This might be too hard but... ... since none of mine have taken more than 20 minutes for anyone to figure out, I'll risk it :p

I'd say Friendship Bogs, but it seems too obvious a choice.

Only one I know that time of year is the Blueberry Festival at Whitesbog, but you're a few weeks early (June 27). I'll keep an eye out for you though.

I didn't see any clearing, but you know the pines... it could be twenty feet away and you'd never know it was there. That also might make the CCC make sense, as everything would have had plenty of time to grow back. It's definitely close to the drops (kicking myself for not dropping a marker...
