    More pine beetle news....

Yeah one of my favorite areas is down by the scar where the fire was, just a cool looking tract. The people who talk against fires just don't have a clue. They live in a subdivision somewhere and have spent five minutes in the outdoors but have some huge opinion on what is good for the pines.

    More pine beetle news....

Out of curiousity is the concern only that pine trees are going to be dying and it may look unsightly? In my opinion many of the pinelands forest are choked with pine trees, and for the species that I'm familar with this dense forest provides very little benefit. In contrast forest with...

    Corn Snake

Bob M, you saw a corn, no doubt. You can't confuse corns with anything else here to be honest, especially at 36 inches which is too big for a coastal, scarlet. When corns are young they can look like black rats but from there on out they are obvious. Al, your diagnostics are correct but the y...

    Corn Snake

Probably a black rat than. I thought I was getting deja vu, hah. If you ever do see one snap a photo of the specimen, corns are known from your area but very few and far between, they are a very secretive species.

    Corn Snake

    Steve Jobs Dead

Apple drops on phone launches and most new product roll outs. Its a buy on the rumor sell on the news mentality of the market. 4s set a one day record in sales stock up 13+ dollars. Boyd, subscribing to that rule is one of the best investment strategies. I like buying stocks at discounts and...

    Steve Jobs Dead

I'm not sure apple will be fine as a company without Stevie, but I think their stock price will not suffer a big dip. There is often a disconnect between the company's health and its stock price (see nflx) It has essentially traded as if Steve Jobs hasn't been around in years. Any other...

    Steve Jobs Dead

Boyd the stock price dipped 20 bucks after hours when Steve resigned and promplty rocketed higher at open the following day, that was just hedge funds stealing stock. Wall Street and traders price in alot of info into a stock when coming up with its trading value. In this case many traders...

Garden State Parkway is ‘downright ugly’

I avoid the road at all cost along with the expressway. My parents drive down the shore alot and I always tell them never take those roads as its either young kids driving them half sh_t faced or people half asleep from the casinos. Its the tourist route.

    Impassible roads

Gibby what ever you can post up would be appreciated. I was curious of the size of the snake, so thanks for the info. I know owls and hawks take rattlesnakes but I've never witnessed it(glad actually), a cool observation.

    Game Camera

Guy I would at least buy a lock and secure it enough that it would take some effort to steal it. I've had mine out for a while in various forest and one finally was stolen a couple years back. It only takes on money hungry loser.

    Game Camera

The pix controller stuff is real cool. If I ever came across a nice windfall I would buy the higher end ones there as I have so spots that need good survellience but my cameras keep getting stolen.

    Hurricane

This was nothing more then a heavy rain shower for me where I live. The wind wasn't bad either. This seems to be a significant storm if you live near flood prone areas, but if not this was a rain storm. I have two leaves and one branch that is about 10 inches long in my front yard, calling in...

    Hurricane

Just got home from the pines, I could really get use to eastbound 72 being closed, along with southeast bound 563. Of course the closures didn't effect me because I know all the sand roads around. It was dead out there today and I enjoyed it.

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

My God if that is anywhere near Caranza its crazy how the much the area has change. If the picture of the train is where I think it is the area now looks nothing like that anymore, the trees are probably 30 feet higher.

    Revisiting the Parker Preserve

They flooded the bogs to the east of 563 and they look pretty nice in spots. I like the varied levels of water and the different types of species that will be attracted towards that sort of thing. Some of the bogs they fixed a while back that are more off the beaten path looked awesome last...
