    Abandoned racetracks.

I found it here: http://www.constructioncollector.com/editorial/unit/index.html Pretty cool.

A few thoughts on the weather

I just moved to Massachusetts and I bought new boots, new jacket and new gloves to get ready for the winter. Well, it has been pretty nice up here. I do believe the winters are warmer then they used to be. When I was a kid in the 80's it seemed like it was always cold in the winter and it...

    Abandoned racetracks.

I believe Amatol is a little further down, just past Hammonton. The track in Atco is much closer to town of Atco/Waterford.

    Abandoned racetracks.

After doing a little research on the internet I discovered the race track in or around Mt Holly was either called Mt Holly Speedway or Arney's Mount Speedway. I think I found it on Google Earth. If you know where Arney's Mount is then you can probably find whats left of the track. Kind of...

    Abandoned racetracks.

That must be it (the one in Atco). I can't believe I never knew it was there. Must have driven past it a hundred times. Pretty cool. Would be neat to see that pic, but I understand it is fragile.

    Abandoned racetracks.

I was recently told about 2 racetracks in South Jersey that have been abandoned for quite some time. I am a motorhead and actually worked down at Atco Raceway for 6 years, but I have never heard of these two tracks. One was in Mt Holly or near Mt Holly and was used in the 1950's the other was...

    1950's campground

I think you are correct about Don Bragg. He has a website www.tarzanbragg.com. He is a pretty interesting guy but seems to have fallen on some tough times as of late. On his website their is a picture of him and Muhammad Ali at Kamp Olympik.

    Fordson Tractor

Update on Fordson Tractor. I know this is an old thread but I spoke to a friend of mine who visited the Fordson Tractor lately. Unfortunately someone actually tried to move the tractor by cutting down the trees that had grown up around it. He said they managed to move it about 40-50 yards...

    Map for sale on Ebay.

I just checked their website and you can get the map there for $12 but on ebay it is $15. And I always thought the bargains were on ebay.

    Sign of the times?

That always was a scary intersection. I have known it my whole life as "5 points" but the intersection lost its 5 points about 13 years ago. My parents always referred to it as Pipers Corner and I have seen that on old maps as well. Hate to say it, but that intersection needed a light years ago.

    Map for sale on Ebay.

I just noticed this on Ebay. Someone is selling reproductions of old maps and they have one for Shamong. It is from 1876 I think and you can get it for about $15. I know it is not original but I might go ahead and purchase one just because I'm from Shamong (even though I say Indian Mills)...

    Sign at Batsto

Must have been ATV's. You know they cause most of the damage. Now they are targeting signs. What's next, the Baststo Tower? J/k

    Thanksgiving Dangers

Are you really serious? I really don't need to hear any of that, especially when I come on this website. I think you went a little over the top there. It wasn't the pinhead "monster" SUV comment that really bothered me, it just made me think about your comment on "sauced up" hunters. When I...

    Thanksgiving Dangers

Sauced up hunters who are pinhead SUV drivers. and you think YOU have it bad, when some "pinhead" in a "monster, gas--guzzling, SUV" is "tailgating" you on 295 on your way to grandma's Because we all know "pinheads" who drive monster, gas-guzzling SUV's are the only people who tailgate. I...

    Pineland Pilgrims

I live in Massachusetts now and my girlfriend is from Kingston, which is right next to Plymouth. If anyone is really interested in tracing back their family to the Mayflower I could possibly help them out. There are multiple old graveyards in the area with Mayflower descendents. Just putting...

    Emhriams Bridge

That mailbox made me think of something. I remember as a kid my address was RD 9 Tuckerton Road. People used to ask me what that meant and when I told them Rural Delivery they just laughed. They said, "You must live out in the sticks." Like that bothered me, I wanted to live out there and...

    Emhriams Bridge

I do not know how to post a link but I found on the internet that the bridge cost $75,000 to build. If it was made out of wood it would have cost $340,000. That is a nice savings. Hopefully it holds up to the test of time. By the way the article stated that the bridge was made out of...

    Go Rutgers!

Just had to say that. I know it is not pines related but it sure is New Jersey related. It was an awesome game to watch and I'm glad Rutgers won, hey I did go there after all. Rutgers played Princeton in the very first college football game in 1869 (I think). Go Scarlet Knights!

    He'll be gone soon.

I was trying to stay out of this but.... I thought no better day to talk politics than on election day. I'll throw my 2 cents in. First all I have been a registered Republican my whole life (all 30 years) but I have many concerns about where out country is headed. My own personal view of...

    Batsto Mansion funding

I'm pretty sure the tunnel under the dining room was brick, the one on the right hand side of the house was just dirt ( not really a tunnel) and I can't remember how the other one was held up. The only one you could really walk into was the third one I spoke of. Not sure if Wharton would have...
