Good question. I've wondered about that in the past and thought it might have to do with the cranberry operation. But maybe it has something to do with construction of the road? I will take a gander tommorrow, as I will be in the area.

Wish I could be of assistance, but I've unfortunately not paddled the stretch from the furnace to Lower Forge in a number of years. Would be a shame if it were impassible now. Are any liveries still maintaining that stretch?
