Memorial to Gregory Moore at Batona field

If anyone has been to Montana you would have noticed the white crosses along the highways marking fatal accident sites. The program was started over 60 years ago by The American Legion and is blessed by the Montana Highway Department. It is a sobering sight on some of the desolate highways. I...

Memorial to Gregory Moore at Batona field

The backdrop in the photo has a few thousand examples of a "pine" tree just in case they need a template. The memorial is a sad reminder of the limited time we all have here on earth. That guy was my age too which really drives it home. May he rest in peace.

Memorial to Gregory Moore at Batona field

Not to be a d#*k but I think the nursery might have hoodwinked the family. If they wanted to purchase a "pine" it appears from the photo that they were sold a common arborvitae. The tree looks like one of the many cultivars of Thuja occidentalis, a non-native to the Pine Barrens.

    What Am This ?

Every time me and my buddy talk about the location he gets me more confused. I will let you know after I have been there.

    What Am This ?

After deer season my friend and I are going back to the spot. I want to get a close look at it myself. He's been hunting the area so we don't want to add any unnecessary disturbance.

    What Am This ?

I thought it was me. I couldn't see "Watts" in my original photo either but I do see "Watts" very clearly in Joe's photo of the washing machine valve. Alright Jerseyman, back to the archives ! :)

    What Am This ?

How did you make that determination Jerseyman ? Did the serial or part number help with that ?

    What Am This ?

A little update. My buddy went back to the area and cleaned up the iron a little and found a serial or part number cast into it. He also found part of a ceramic jug. Perhaps he is stumbling into the remains of some sort of still ??? See photos.

Jeep confirms return of legendary SUV

Coming past Rack's bar in Atco a few minutes ago and a J10 pickup pulled out of the bar onto the Pike next to me. It was cool to see. A friend of mine had one for a woods truck many years ago and it was pretty bulletproof. I remember them having solid axles and with Dana 44's in the front and...

Pine Barrens Photograph Collection from 1915-16

The formality of having fun by a river certainly clashes with what one would experience today in the same setting. Did anyone notice the swastika on the bow of the canoe in the photo labeled Envelope 1 image 4 ? That is very puzzling.

    Nikon turns 100

I bought the Redfield spotter, my last two Leupold VX II rifle scopes, three pairs of prescription sunglasses and other equipment from Optics Planet. They are top notch as Teegate would say ! The Redfield is available in an 80mm objective but the reviews didn't seem to rank it that much better...

    Nikon turns 100

Wow ! Thanks 46'er. I would like to hit that sale and drool. Maybe someone will feel sorry for me.. CM Refuge is where I tried the Swarovski stuff. They had a bunch of students there handing you all kinds of high end optics. The spotting scopes were so vivid it almost made the image look...

    Nikon turns 100

My Nikon BDC is definitely made in China, its stamped in the tube on the bottom side of the elevation adjustment. I have Leuopold 10x 50 BX-3 binos and I love them. Awesome light gathering ability and clarity. Those are actually made in Japan. Before I die I want to get a set of Swarovski...

    Nikon turns 100

I have a Nikon 3-9x rifle scope with the BDC (bullet drop compensator) reticle. It came as a part of a package with a rifle. I wasn't sure I was going to keep it on the gun because I assumed it might be sub-par because it was a package. I am a big Leupold fan and have three of their...

    Junior

Took the gun for a walk today with the wife and dogs to enjoy this winter weather. This is usually a good time to catch ducks hunkered down during a storm on open water pockets when the other water starts to tighten up. I captured this picture of my son's dog Junior sitting next to me. Junior...
