Trip report: Shiver Me Timbers and Blow Me Down

Man, I'm missing out! I need to get back to Jersey soon so that I can try to take on a trip like that with you guys. Behr, what is that sandy area next to GS10(?) which looks like it used to be a pond?

Very, very cool. Thanks, Ben. One day I plan to find and horde Blackbeard's treasure that he buried along the Mullica.

Oh, so that was your intention? To make us all realize that we take this forum too seriously? Golly! It all makes perfect sense now. Thank you, 00xj54!

The "Nanny State" continues it's rampage on it's citizens

Speaking of retarded, your grammar is pretty atrocious, supercilious. P.S. If you want, I can refer you to some decent sites which might help you learn to engage in civil debate. Maybe a lesson in comma placement is also in order. :eng101:

Really? You had no intentions of making yourself look like a moron and an asshole? You had no intentions of making a bad impression of yourself? I suppose nobody truly intends to do oneself wrong, so I believe you.

The only thing that can help that kid mature is a good ol' fashioned arse-whoopin'! If, in the real world, he acts the way he does on this board, such a lesson in maturity is undoubtedly on the horizon. :)

looking for joe mulliner's grave stone

Guy, you are correct in that there is debate over where the site of the grave is, and this is due to the confusion of the scant historic references thereof. The site on Sweetwater/Weekstown Rd., however, is known to be a prank played by locals in 1965. The "grave" has since gotten a new stone...

That gravestone in Pleasant mills is at High bank. It is, of course, not the site of Mulliner's grave.

    I miss the Pines

Hi Bob. I'm in Missoula. First the good: Terrain - Mountains and rivers galore. Culture - People are generally friendlier and the mode of living is generally more laid back. Economic - No sales-tax and cheap rent. Now the ugly: Environment - A grossly polluted river runs...

    I miss the Pines

I've been living in the Big Sky country for 3 months now. It's beautiful out here, but my heart still tells me that it belongs in the Pines. But as the old saying goes, distance makes the heart grow fonder. In the meantime, I will be dreaming of those little rivers of New Jersey. Here's...

    Kayaked the Sedge Islands

Jeff, I definitely agree that Island Beach is part of the pine barrens. Its lacking certain things like cedar swamps, but the pines and sugar sand are prevalent, amongst other things. Very neat place, isn't it? Thanks for the report.

    Spungs

Hi L. Nice to have you. Take a look at this interesting, however dated, bit: <<<In a study issued by the Academy of Natural Sciences for the National Park Service, Jack McCormick recommends a periglacial spung study! In "A Study of Significance of the Pine Barrens of New Jersey" (1968)...

    1st Time to Jemima Mt

Jeepster, I hope you don't take too unkindly to my "preaching," as I wouldn't want to get off on the wrong foot with anyone here. From what I have gathered from your posts, you seem to love the Pines, and I can see that you do alot by way of cleaning it up. I really appreciate that, and I...
