    Dead fish in the Mullica

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a relatively large number of dead fish (various species) floating along the river. This is by far the greatest number I've noticed in several years. The first thought that occurred to me was that they were caught and released and died from the wounds...

ATV rider shot in North Jersey!

kingofthepines, Interesting information. Do you have a link that can verify this info in particular: "After several warnings to Mann to get on the ground a rookie officer fired two shots into Mann striking him once in the leg and once in the chest" ? Thanks

ATV rider shot in North Jersey!

Bobbleton, Um, yes, you did miss something. If you do some research you will find that the witnesses of the incident attest to his being shot twice in the chest. This put him in critical condition and he has since died from the serious wounds. Very, very sad. I hope they get to the bottom...

ATV rider shot in North Jersey!

Considering that the man who was shot was unarmed and was not reported to have physically threatened the rangers, and considering that he was shot twice in the chest, I am left seriously considering one option over others: Another deranged ranger. Pending on the official investigation report...

    Strange lights over the Pines

Fellow Pineys, Last night, 3/1/06, I observed several lights, one appearing after the other in a matter of a couple of seconds. They formed a remarkably straight line, something that I'd never seen before. I first saw them while driving on the parkway near Galloway, and saw them again about...

The west side of Tulpehocken at Friendship

Ed, great photos. I suppose the Tulpe is so wide because of the many dams on the stream? Looking at the picture of the flooded road, I am left wondering if was even a road at all.

    Cougar in the Pines?

The Florida Panther is also known as the Florida Cougar, and is classified as a puma (Puma concolor coryi). One cat, many names.

Things that shouldn't be done in the Pines.

I think it wrong to deny balloons their right to the Pines, seeing that they obviously love the place as much as we do. Respectfully in disagreement, Gabe

Things that shouldn't be done in the Pines.

I don't like to give folks a hard time, nor do I find much gratification in preaching, but I need to get a few things off my chest. Hopefully, this post may provoke some people to be a bit more mindful when it comes to the way they treat the Pine Barrens. And to the regular posters here, no...

steve, is this the fan-shape bog you were at? https://boydsmaps.com/tz/#z=18&n=4390508&e=528683&s=50&size=l&datum=nad83&layer=DRG25 I was just here today as a matter of fact. A very beautiful place, although it is a shame that some asswipe decided to go 4-wheeling through a portion of the...

    Nice weekend

"This time I had trouble trouble..." Double trouble? I've always wanted to try the tulpehocken. I've heard it is the most beautiful stream in the pines. Not easy to access or paddle, however.
