A model for the geomorphology of the Carolina Bays

Much more erratic then the Bays but definitely interesting. Perhaps dropped from a more vertical trajectory and hence less regular in shape?

New snake species hiding in plain sight

There is a blanket law against "harassing" wildlife in NJ.What Harassing entails I guess would be up to the game official your dealing with and the jury at the trial.I"d say if me or you is handling the snake it is harassment. If someone with a college degree in Environmental Sciences is doing...

Car found in Mullica River, body discovered inside

you know there are a few places above tidewater in the Mullica that would be over my head but those places are very few.I"d say he probably could have opened his door and stepped out into chest deep water? I have been at the precise spot he went in at but can't say for sure how deep it would be...

Boyd's Map of the Pines beta available

This map really is awesome, the historical buildings alone make it worth the download and of course the property lines and contours are the icing on the cake. Definitely it will be on my GPS when I head into the woods on stone hunts or any hike in general. Thanks Boyd!

DEP Releases New Wildlife Action Plan

Racers have no venom but I"d say the attitude is worse then a cobra:-) I don't get the special concern status. Their one of our most common snakes. That with garters, black rats and northern water snakes.

DEP Releases New Wildlife Action Plan

For most people who might think of grabbing hold of a Black Racer their greatest concern at that point will be letting go of it:)

Hunter shot, injured in Maurice River Township

I remember when your bait had to be out of sight of the stand. Now everyone hunts over top of a bait pile with a camera on it.They then get pissed when someone walks up,sees the bait, looks left and right, locates the camera and walks off with it. I just found a camera last week on public land only...

Hunter shot, injured in Maurice River Township

Never understood the logic of two lines of people one approaching the other and both firing towards each other in the hopes that they will hit a deer instead of each other.Eventually the odds will catch up with you.

    Cumberland County Stones

Have been having a hard time locating stones in the manumuskin preserve because I can't locate the starting points.I went to the 1931 aerials and located some old stage routes from Millville to Port Elizabeth and walked those the best I could follow them today which wasn't very well in...

    Island Beach

I don't care for the GPS tracking of snakes.I know a 25 year old pine snake that was found dead from an infection caused by the wound from repeated chips inserted under the skin. The battery wears out after awhile and has to be replaced.Perhaps technology has gotten better now. This was back in...
