When I seen that stone I was inclined to think that maybe it had been hit by a grader in the past.Perhpas it was laying over and was hit and has since been stood up?
I have not heard a Bobwhite/Quail in a good twenty years.I hear the claim is lack of good habitat which would be old fields in advanced stages of succession. It is impossible to maintain a field in the proper stage so the locations of the birds would change. Most of the old fields when i was a kid...
some of them appeared to be above water. The water was clear so I misjudged.I guess if it is cedar and underwater it may last a long time indeed..Would be nice to find remnants of the foundation.
Nice Boyd!
I'm still hearing them around here as well but as you say not near as many as a couple months ago.The generally skedaddle by october and show up again in April.
The tide effects the lower ponds south of the grade,is barely perceptible at the rr grade and just slightly noticeable if you measure it in the upper ponds themselves. The tide never extends upstream from there and never rises more then a couple inches or so in the upper ponds.
Lake Audrey? I live about three miles from mauricetown and have never heard of it.Would it be the blue hole owned by the state in back of John's garage?actually between Mauricetown and Haleyville?
Now to find my way from Tibet to the Barrens! I'll take some prayer flags with me and promise not to kick any more butt then absolutely necessary on the way!
are you saying the wood boards I see in the photos are remains of a mill?It wouldn't be that old if these boards are part of it.Any stone foundations? I don't doubt there was a mill there but these boards look awful recent???
I see more rebel flags flying around this area and on Pick up truck bumpers then I ever do when I actually go down south.Use to have a few of my own come to think of it.back when I was a rebelgade.
