    Piney Water

Oak and cedar vegetation is very high in tannic acid, this would definitely add to the acidity of any surface water flowing across such vegetation.I hear pine needles are acidic as well.

    It Could have been Worse

I have yanked a leg so hard to get it out before that I pulled something in my hip that hurt for a week. There are times when the only thing that will extricate you is a good old temper tantrum.Normally i can fall over on my back and wiggle my hips and slide backwards till the suction breaks and...

West Branch of the Wading River

[ The paddle time was one and a half hours from 563 to the bog through a beautiful area. A rep from the NJCF told me they don't want anyone clearing the streams in the preserve, so it's going to be difficult to get any further upstream. We have the right to navigate any navigable...

thanks! I was going back there this winter to check out the rest of the trails I missed,I'll check it out.I remember the green trail as being very hard to follow across the swam, the swamp was so open and the blaze so few and the trail so little used it took a while to follow it across.

    Tuckahoe WMA

The old aerials look like it is just clearings but they are very rectangular and clean and they might be buildings.I knew you were close and thought maybe you had explored the area.

    Tuckahoe WMA

a quick glace of the open space map seemed to put this in Tuckahoe WMA but according to this map if this is up to date it would seem to be private http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/wmamaps/tuckahoe_no.pdf

    Tuckahoe WMA

I was viewing historical aerials of Atlantic Coutny Park ,the 1931 aerials in particular when i happened to scan a little southward into what would be Tuckahoe WMA,I've explored this area only lightly in the past.I noticed what possibly may be more ruins that might be related to the War...

    Rarities

Not rare at all in Maurice River twp.have found this extrordinary plant quite a few times in the past.It always seems to be accomopanied by fertilizer bags, water jugs and miracle grow bottles.Quite a beautiful little plant that has led to more then a few wasted lives I know of.Always in moderation.

    This Old Stone House

The house is still there because the wise man not only built his house upon the rock but built it of rock. The foolish man builds his house upon the sand. That would be me,very little rock in the Barrens so I'll build a wigwam on the sand, hurt less that way when it collapses and I have to rebuild:-)
