    I would assume the color comes from the water being clear due to lack of tannins in the water because of lack of tannin producing substances like oak leaves and bark and cedar and such and the lack of black mud yet to cover the bottom.So you have clear ground water over a white sand bottom...

    I lived in Dividing crik as a kid and again in my 20;s I used to paddle up Hansey crik (owls nest)and down maple crik in a little plywood sneakbox I found abandoned in the marsh with a pole I made from knocking a small tree down.Many good memories and a few bad ones in that little town.
