    Anyone see it?

Lately, meteors seem to be a hot topic. If more folks got out of their homes and looked up, they would see that streaks of light in the sky occur nightly.

Stiz, check out the short section of the other Oxmead Road just off of Jacksonville Road. A great area for hawks and owls. Both sides of the road are grasslands and woody wetlands. The one section that is fenced in (it is posted as a preserve) is a great spot for American Kestrel and Peregrine...

Anyone notice the shadows underneath the trees? The shadows are directly below and just slightly off center. I'd take a guess that this photograph was taken about midday during the middle of the Summer. The sun is high. July?

    Botany

As much as I enjoy each season for what it has to offer, I have had enough of the grey skies and cold weather. I am looking forward to the long, warm blue skied days exploring the the river corridors, the peaty bogs and the wet meadows. Hopefully this year, I can add a few more plants to my...

    Overkill for the Pines

A used camper for sale at a lowered price of $39000 and a very cool beach buggy. The pull out grill sold me on the surf fishing 'mog. (The yellow advertisement can be closed out)

    Islands in the Pines

Manu, terrific set of pictures and video. Your videos don't have any shake. Does your camera have image stabilization or is the smoothness because of the editor in Youtube?

    Overkill for the Pines

Hew, I agree. Unimogs are one of the most adaptable trucks (onroad tractor?) in the world and there are companies that make campers for them. Imagine the possibilities with an almost unstoppable truck with living quarters.

    Trails in wharton

Yes, it is a very nice bike. My neighbor changed the gearing so he can use it for getting around town. The bike is still a bear in the woods and can wear you out because of the power. I have been surprised more than once by the speed it is able to deliver. I have looked down and seen numbers...

This Morning In The Friendship Area

How far back did the Forest Service let the prescribed burn along the road? I didn't stop when I passed through today. I noticed this afternoon how obvious the Speedwell dam is after the area is burned by the highway. The pond would have been large.

    Trails in wharton

I sold my Honda 250R many years ago because I was frustrated with being unable to find riding areas. As the building boom consumed all available land in the late eighties and early nineties, most of the riding areas disappeared just as fast as the valuable open land. Names such as Channel 53...

For some reason, the stream reminds me of the Skit Branch by Tuckerton Road.

Ben, I recently noticed a problem when using a map link in a members post. A blue box presents itself in a partially loaded map image and in this is "Could not load GPX document function URL () {[native code]}". I have to click "OK" in order for the map to finish loading. I am using Chrome on...

    Found In My Back Yard

Sarra, you may need to get a permit to hunt the bike path with a metal detector. Is the path an Ocean County park? If so, I would give the park system a call for a free permit, unless the policy has changed. State and federal land metal detecting is a no-no too. Definitely check first! -Metal...

Brigantine North End Coast Guard Station?

Heather, pay the local historical society a visit this summer. In the past, I have great luck finding answers to questions I had about an area's past by saying hello to the local museum or society. The members are friendly and always willing to chat on a subject. ;) Brigantine has a historical...
