    The Hut

Not too many of these places left. The Cassville Tavern sounds pretty similar. Mayo's seems to be a little higher class now. Where else can you get a cheap beer in an empty, dimly lit bar?

    Original Gordon's Gazetteer of 1838

Back in the days of my youth, when I had more money than I knew what to do with, I bought myself an original copy of Thomas Gordon's 1838 Gazetteer for an ungodly sum of money, and then shipped it off to an artisan in Canada who professionally rebound it. Fast forward to today, when I need to...

Mountains, the Devil, and a snake

I really need to get Dana out in the woods. Kinda hard without a truck now, though.

    A photo to ponder

    Looks like an Imperial Walker.

Great Swamp Branch & Nescohague Creek, A PBX Hike

Flies and mosquitos are enough to keep me out of the woods. I was in my driveway for 5 minutes yesterday and there were a ton of skeeters hovering around me. Winter and spring have to be the best times to explore. No bugs. The fall is ruined by the chiggers.

    Mercury bites the dust....

We'll have to get new NJPineBarrens.com stickers made up for your new car. From what I heard, Ford is going to be investing more in Lincoln to make up for the loss of Mercury. Supposedly there's going to be a compact car in Lincoln's lineup sometime soon.

    Real Property Title History Lesson

I once attempted to look up some data in the Ocean County Courthouse. I was clueless and there was nobody there to help me, so I abandoned my search. I'd like to see more data online. At least a list of current and former property owners.

    jim ungehajer's illness

I just noticed this thread -- I haven't really been keeping an eye on things for the last few days. Like Guy, I had an on again off again relationship with Jim. I forget what exactly the circumstances were, but I had banned him and a few other people off this site for a few months. There were...

    Trashing the pines

Nope, you'd just have more people making alternate routes to get their vehicle up the mountain. On Fischer Boulevard in Toms River there's a big plot of wooded land next to the old driving range. There's a few roads and trails that go through it. Back in the early 2000's my friends and I...

    Quick Atsion Trip

The bike is pretty cool. The front end loader? A bit overkill for four wheeling in the Pines.

    Wawa

The Wawa at Princeton University is pretty unique: http://blogs.princeton.edu/aspire/2009/02/the_princeton_experience_wawa.html

West Bank Oswego, A PBX Hike

Sorry I couldn't make it to the afterparty. Things are a little crazy at home right now. The heat would have done me in on the hike.

    Mary Ann Forge

The canal starts to go through private property across Junction Rd. so sadly it's impossible to follow all the way up to the bogs.

    Cycling in the Pines

Yes, please. Double Trouble is fairly close to me. Thanks!

    Cycling in the Pines

It might have more to do with the fact that I have more padding on my butt than you. :)

    Cycling in the Pines

I have a gel seat that seems to work fine for me. :)

    Cycling in the Pines

Well, I need to lose about 25 pounds and the gym is so mind numbingly boring. So I figure that biking might be a good way to do it. Right now I'm working towards building up my endurance and then I may also start running a bit. I found a nice cyclocross bike, but it's about $500, so I'm going...

    Cycling in the Pines

I have a mountain/hybrid bike right now. Looking to pick up a cyclocross bike because I'm on the road more often than not. I've already passed the 10 mile mark for my rides so I should be alright going beyond half an hour. :) Ideally I'll start doing one of the PPA's Tour de Pines...
