news for motor vehicle woods travelers

When the ORV ban happened in 2003 I called up the Batsto Rangers. They told me that I was safe with my Jeep on any road that shows up on a topo map. If it does not show on a topo map - no matter how wide or well used the trail is - I'd be fined if I was caught.

    Your Topozone.com Replacement

I've just made some changes. Now you can hide the lat/long input box, GPX upload, and credits to give you more screen space for the maps. If you look at it in Firefox or Safari you'll see that the controls float over the map. In IE7 you'll see that they hang out on the right side, and when you...

Pine Barrens Clean up Oct 26th.

It's still pretty far out for people to be discussing it. I am sure you'll get a few takers. I may go myself.

    Hunting Seasons Begin 9-13-08

Quoting this for truth. The WMA's that we love to visit (Greenwood WMA, Colliers Mills WMA, for example) are paid for via hunting licenses, unlike state parks that get revenue from other places. I'd hate to see land in either place sold off because of lower revenues from hunting or fishing...

news for motor vehicle woods travelers

As far as I have known this has always been the case. When did the law change? How did you find this out?

It means they are no longer a member of this forum.

    abandoned house on 532

I've edited the map link out of the post because it would have surely resulted in the house being vandalized or destroyed.

    old School Charcoaling

I remember reading somewhere that one of the last batches of charcoal was made in the 70's near Lakehurst.

    Atsion Mansion opening soon.

Yeah, but at least in my mind the Atsion Mansion tells a greater human tale than any old car. In any event my biggest fear is that the mansion will become sanitized, just the way the Batsto or Allaire mansions are. Instead of being something you can hold in your hand, or have any sort of...

    Live Maps Slow?

Those get downloaded straight from the DEP's servers to your PC (or Mac :ninja:). The 1930 maps should be slow as well.

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

There's six years worth of discussion on the site. A lot of really good stuff is back a few pages. :)

    Atsion Mansion opening soon.

I wonder if they rebuilt or restored the hearth. It was in pretty sad shape when I saw it, although to see it rebuilt out of new bricks would be sad. It's sort of like the mansion has become a ship of Theseus.

    Live Maps Slow?

I've heard from two people that the Live Maps have been running slow since the server move. The server move shouldn't have anything to do with it since it all runs in the browser, but if people can check it out and let me know how it runs for them, I'd appreciate it.

How long does the red last in all the bogs around

Until they harvest all of the berries.

No worries. Hog Wallow, Sim Place, and Speedwell are all private property with people who would rather not deal with trespassers. The Parker Preserve is a great place to explore, as well as Cloverdale Bogs in Barnegat.

Hog Wallow is a cranberry farm right outside of Chatsworth. It's private property. All there is to see (from the road) are bogs some some houses.

    Inaugural Monmouth Concours d' Elegance

I actually never thought I'd see one in real life. I'd have got better shots but it was CRAWLING with people.
