    Parker Preserve, Bald Eagle reservoir

We decided rather than brave the insanity in Wharton this week that we would instead explore the Parker Preserve. Thursday morning we entered at South Gate and headed west on the white trail. Much of this area has been left in it's natural state, flooded, and is easier on the eyes than what...

is fishing allowed in the parker preserve

I have not paddled it since the early 70's. I think it would be not worth it. Enter at the road Guy mentioned. After a couple hundred feet you will see blue trail markers. Follow them to the shelter and dock. Ed

    Music for the day

You have to love that choreography. I would watch those shows with my father in the 60's, we would try our hand at them and laugh. Great video Bob, it made me smile.

It's too small, but definitely a dog.

is fishing allowed in the parker preserve

No, it is before Speedwell Road traveling south from Chatsworth. The road Guy mentioned is just north of the Southgate entrance and is the quickest way into the lake. It is unmarked. Your best bet is to go to the Southgate entrance, 2.9 miles south of Chatsworth, and then head back north and the...

    Parker Preserve, Southgate

On Nov 3rd I met Tony, Gloria, Marianne, Bella, Buffy at the Southgate of the Parker Preserve east of 563 for a picnic and explore. The entrance, Southgate, is 2.9 miles south of Chatsworth. Others have posted pictures of this area and we wanted to see it for ourselves. We met at Southgate at...

    The Water Dawg!

Al, here is my splash dog Bella taken at 9 months old this summer. She will dive for hours. She is an avid Wharton hiker. We were on Hampton Road last month at Deep Run when she got this distant look, turned, ran across the road and jumped from 6 feet high into the foam at the downstream culvert...

All she lost: My sister's battle with Lyme disease

What type of test did you get? There are several. http://www.morristown.com/LymesDiseaseNJ/DiagnosisandTesting.html If it was the titer, you will test positive for many years even if you cure the disease. This tests your antibodies to the disease, not the lyme spirochete.

    Emergency Alert System

I prefer the air raid sirens of the early 60's. I was taught to hide under my desk.

It's mixed sleet and snow now. It is sticking. I can see trees and limbs coming down. Last night we had 1 1/4 inches of rain.

    First Snow

It is freezing rain here, the ground is crunchy. We took a drive into Wharton after having breakfast at the Shamong Diner. There are 4 tents at Batona Camp. Three of them appear to be with the Jeep Jamboree. The Magic Bus has left. He was there for about 3 weeks and had an extensive camp. There...
