    Chicken Soup

Famatodine is my middle name. There is one jalapeño in that pot, but it was chopped so thinly it’s not visible. The green you’re seeing is diced okra. I know a lot of people don’t like okra, so it can be omitted. I also don’t add rice to my jambalaya. I keep it on the side and let people add...

    Chicken Soup

Not really a soup, but I did a batch of Jambalaya this week (shrimp, andouille sausage, chicken)

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I have to tip my hat to Atlantic City Electric. We lost power at 10:30pm on the night of the storm. I notified them of the outage, but the wind along the coat was blowing 40-50mph and the rain was coming down in sheets, so I didn’t think they would send anybody out until the following day. They...

    Jersey Devil Bobblehead

$38 with shipping, and I won’t get it until April. I’m a sucker for Pine Barrens memorabilia. I saw Batona Trail t-shirts at the Brendan Byrne office this week for $17. I told them I wanted five in XL. They had three in my size. I explained that wasn’t enough because in just a few months these...

    Boy Scout Camp In Tabernacle

I’d put some lime in there to buffer the PH to 7, then stock it with bass. :D

I have to have one of these.

    Atsion Mansion January Evening Tours

I’m a little wary of mansions in the pine barrens. The last time I was walking by the mansion in Batsto after dark, I swear I heard the ghost of Joseph Wharton say, “Who the hell put stucco on my house?”

Apple Pie Hill January 1 Fire Tower Climb

And don’t forget your paint cans!;) I used to really enjoy the opportunity to climb that tower whenever I hiked through Apple Pie Hill on the Batona Trail, but I suspected that the state would eventually close it down. The tower was littered with offensive graffiti and people were carrying all...

    Carranza Road Property For Sale

Most of the people I do business with own vacation homes in excess of 10 million dollars. I have seen first hand that money will buy you comfort, but it will not buy you happiness. I worked for a client who had just sold his business for 80 million dollars and was retiring at 62 years old. He...

    Carranza Road Property For Sale

People with deep pockets like that keep me in business. I worked in that particular house for two months. The last person out of the house at the end of the day, which was usually me, had to make sure all the lights were off, all the windows were closed and all the doors were locked. Do you know...

    Carranza Road Property For Sale

For 37 million dollars you could buy this 13,000 sq ft. house on the bay in Avalon and have 12 million left over for a house warming party.

New Car or Nearly New Car

Toyota is now selling a pickup truck for $13,000! Granted, it’s not the sexiest truck on the road. Of course you’ll have to move to Thailand to buy one since it’s not available for sale in the US.

New Car or Nearly New Car

I put 283,000 miles on my 2008 Tacoma and it had no major problems when I sold it. I love my 2017 Tacoma. My only complaint is the gas mileage. I’m averaging around 19 miles per gallon. My 2008 Tacoma was averaging 24 mpg.

New Car or Nearly New Car

I usually replace my truck every 4-5 years. My Tacoma is now 6 years old. I keep thinking the supply chain issue is going to be resolved and soon I’ll be able to walk into a car dealership two days before the end of the month and beat them down to a rock bottom price like I always have in the...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I hiked from Evans Bridge to Bass River today on the Batona Trail. The water level was definitely higher today than it was hiking through that area two weeks ago.

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

This has been one of the driest falls I can recall in the pines. I do wish some people wouldn’t see a dry pond as an opportunity to turf it up with their motorcycles.

Shooters Sporting Center Being Sold for $10,500,000.00!

I remember as a kid in the 1960’s getting excited looking at guns in the Sears catalog. You could fill out the order form, enclose a check, and they’d ship it to your door. Then I hit puberty and became more excited about the lingerie section in the Sears catalog.

Top chef reveals secret spots in N.J. forests where he finds rare mushrooms in new film

I steer clear of wild mushrooms. I’m not sure how I want to die, but I’m pretty sure I don’t want it to be by poisoning. Whenever I drive to Lancaster, Pa, there is mushroom company on Rt. 41 in Avondale, PA called Cutone Mushrooms. They usually only have white mushrooms, baby Bella, shiitakes...

New Car or Nearly New Car

Yes, when a car salesman says to me, “What kind of monthly payment are you looking for?” I immediately tell him, “I’m not a payment buyer. My purchase decision will be based solely on the out the door price.” I took a ride through Shore Toyota this past week and they had one Tacoma pick up...
