How many times have you heard me say fire is fire. Backfires can burn as hot as the main fire and it’s impossible to tell the difference just by heat. That was a very HOT fire.

I was saying the same thing to my co worker. In my teens we had bin fires out in the woods. We were alway super careful and extinguished the best we could with all the coolers but it still could have lit back up the next day.

That cage was there 2 years ago. I could not see anything in it then. I know exactly where you were. I found the stove parts as well. About 85 feet NNW of the coordinates I sent. Before it burnt.

I saw that same spot and assumed the same. It looks like it was on a small trail off of Rairitan.

I thought that’s what you meant. I drove some of the fire yesterday and noticed the same as you. Most of it didn’t burn very hot. Sometimes I think there’s a misconception that backfires don’t burn as hot as forest fires. I hear it all the time. “Thats a control burn” simply because it didn’t...

I’m curious. Are you saying where it was burnt good was forest fire and where it didn’t was backfire?

Also it’s worth noting. That most of the people that I know who also refer to it as California Branch Road are in the FFS. And they may have had a hand in naming the Fire.

I’ve always known that red line as California Branch Road. It crosses Rairitan at Five Mile Crossing which gets it name from the fact that it’s 5 miles from the center of Atco. I’ve looked for confirmation of the name of the road and branch on many maps but never found it.

I have heard that area called that by some people. But I have never seen it called that on a map.
