    Henry Charlton Beck

I want to recall the memory of Beck, but didn't want to fill up Tom's Hanover Furnace thread. I was thinking of Beck while thumbing through some of his books looking for information. Why did many of us love Henry Charlton Beck? Sure, he had his flaws in not having all of the data correct, but...

    House at Hanover Furnace

In "New Jersey Forges and Furnaces" there is a photo of the Hanover Furnace ruins, although it's very similar to a photo I've seen of Speedwell ruins. I could be wrong. From Becks "Forgotten Towns of Southern NJ", Beck says: "The earliest picture known to be in existence is a daguerreotype...

    House at Hanover Furnace

"Mr. Jones, Mrs. Smith over in Biddles Mills sells razors, if you'd like to trim that nest a bit". I still recall, in the 1960's seeing statistics that indicated Smith and Jones were amont the most common names in the telephone book.

    House at Hanover Furnace

Those items are quite old. 1825 for the painting. Is it still around? It looks like a waterwheel on the left. And the little boat in the foreground. Seeems like the perspective is off. And the guy sitting is in the same setting. This is a very interesting. I've never seen anything on Hanover...

Realistic scenes in the terrain viewer (with tutorial)

Interesting. That final version on the sand pit is interesting. I'm sure some will use it. As to me, on your second link, when I switch over to 2007, you can see the watercourse better, which is my aim.

    Music for the day

BTW, I couldn't understand why, when I listened to a song on Youtube it sounded flat, and unappealing, in stark comparison to being played on this forum, where it sounds excellent. So, I asked AI and got this answer below. I didn't even know there was a seperate Youtube for music.

I still have this album and played side one today. Fairport Covention, with Sandy Denney. An English Folk-rock band.

    Snow?

I'd rather see just 2 of these a winter than multiple nuisance snows or heavy hitters with 15" and above. It's crazy that the news calls any forecast with at least an inch a 'winter storm'. In my youth it was: "light snow on tuesday folks".

    Snow?

I lucked out. Nothing. No rain I could see or hear and no ice. On the down side, for the period Dec 30 to 27 Jan, I got a gas bill of $423. I was moving stuff in though with the door often open and painting so sometimes I had to air the place out. But still!

    Budd Wilson

I recall sitting at a picnic table with Barry at Green Bank Methodist Church (off River Road) discussing the names in the adjacent cemetary. Must have been around 20 years ago. Budd (who I'd never met before) was walking on River Road in a determined way towards the forest as we sat there. Barry...

I some few places, the 2020's beat the 2007 in seeing outlines of what's there. Old Atsion village is an example.

Murder in the first degree: intentially planned to kill, and carried out the plan with cruel intent to kill. The most dastardly deed, indeed.

Those lists of best guitarists? Jimi will always be number 1 for me. He could make a guitar talk and follow his vocals like it was an extension of him.
