Prescribed Burning Today - Wharton, other sites

By the way, that's one of the areas where Birdseye works but you have to kind of manipulate it.

I can't see a 1984, but it still looks like they've dicked with that area a long time. I recall a forestry project sign on that road. That road is where I came upon a coyote and he started running in from of me, and did so for 1/4 mile.

    Pine snakes

Al, go to post #21 in this thread from Boyd. He found the trailer and it's in there at 1:54.

It actually said $0.00 for me. Maybe a certain amount were free. I'll let you know if they charged me. PS: it may be that I had entertainment credits from allowing them to ship things later than I'm entitled to.

Hard to understand why that Mount Misery section was burned.

    Texas Tower #4

Let's hear the Hatteras story. I was there once, on that spit of land that jutted out close to the gulf stream (well, close in my idealized mind anyway). Amazing feeling.

Was this your first suit Ed? That's a hum-dinger, ain't it? They had a big picture of this there...

Very interesting story Ed. When did you stop diving, and why (just out of curiosity). I could not do it, nor could I climb tall structures, I don't like heights unless I feel absolutely safe.

Very interesting to hear of your knowledge on this JD. Yes, it did note that, and indicated the bracing may have made things worse. This is from the link I posted (Wikipedia): "During transportation, two or three structural supports were dislodged in rough seas. The Air Force considered two...

They did have a sub wreck story which had stuff picked off it by divers. It was probably the same sub.

    Flat spots in the valleys

By the way Mark, I like that term in the one paper: "underfit" stream channels. It really does fit for our streams.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I have a soft spot for Enduro riders. They really hurt nothing as long as they don't make trails through sensitive wetlands, which they don't. If you see that guy again, ask him what makes more trails and deeper trails; enduro Riders or fire breaks.

    Flat spots in the valleys

So Mark, this statement from that document is in agreement with your last post? "The youngest colluvial-alluvial deposits ( Oca 1 b) are mapped only in the headwaters of the Mullica River in southern New Jersey. The surface of these deposits is engraved with a pattern of braided stream...

    Texas Tower #4

I spent a good portion of the afternoon at the Maritime Museum on Long Beach Island. Great history there. Towards the end of the afternoon, I became fixated on this story, they had a full rack of info on it and it was addicting. They almost had to throw me out. I never knew about this...

    Flat spots in the valleys

This source is kind of overwhelming, but it has great stuff in it, and it references related maps in the upper right corner. Here's a comment in the beginning: "Stewart Farrell of Stockton State College contributed to our understanding of the head of the Mullica River basin near Atsion."...

    Flat spots in the valleys

I know what you are speaking of. I think they originated during the last glacial period due to glacial runoff. I'm about 50% sure of that, but I'll look up some stuff on it. We have a member on here that has ideas on that, maybe he'll chime in. With that said, it may also be related to the...

    Comet ZTF

Interesting. I always find the size of space incomprehensibe. That star (Regulus) in the Lion Constellation is 78 light years away. If my parents shined a light onto that star when I was born, the beam has been traveling 186,000 miles per second for the 68 years I've been alive, but it still...

    Pine snakes

Really? That's interesting. I thought it looked odd to be a pine snake. If you get a chance to watch the movie free, do so. The shot is longer and brighter.
