    Pine Barren History Shorts

Jeff and I were back there about 10(?) years ago. The rusted metal components back there at the time were a puzzle. We could not figure out what had been going on. In the far eastern reservoir, Jeff saw a gigantic snapper. To this day it's a very lonely, not frequently visited bog system.

Love the streaming photons in the first shot. Took them 8 minutes to get here!

The Skit Bridge is being replaced

Good, that is a great shortcut. And Zack is right. Always butt them unless they are kiln-dried.

    Pine Barren History Shorts

I just finished reading a book titled "Hillbilly Elegy", which is one man's story of a hillbilly who made it good. I was surprised to learn that there was a huge migration of coal mining Hillbillies from places like Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia to Ohio and other northern states to work...

Ore Beds On Cherry Hill Road

I agree. I am very poor on the names given to roads in the pines. I usually remember the hard-surfaced road names (Mt. Misery, Pasadena, Savoy, etc) but I remember the sand ones only by memory. The Red Road is an exception.

Ore Beds On Cherry Hill Road

Ahh, you remember! Yes, we were dropped off at the big clearing and walked from there in a fairly straight line all the way to Wading Pines Campground, crossing the Mullica, the Batsto, and the Wading in an 11 mile trek. Great memories. We stashed water at a couple places along the way.

Very interesting Guy. My senses are very attuned to people who have issues. Some of those people are like flashing beacons.

No, about 9 miles away as the crow flies from that area.

    Best Kayaking/Canoeing Lakes in Pines?

Lake Oswego because you can go upstream pretty far. Also, Bamber, you can go upstream 1/4 mile. Harrisville Lake is easy to get to also, and can go upstream. Aso, where the Batsto dumps into Batsto.

    Where is this?

Who among you pine barren travelers can pinpoint the location of this old bridge? It looks like it was privately made.

    Storm on Friday Morning

That is a delicious photo Jon. I can hear the water rushing as well as hearing the stillness of the river in the background (if that makes sense).

So, I suppose the party is over at Tice's shoal. Maybe they'll buy wet suits and helmets. https://www.facebook.com/myticesshoal/

Floating in a lagoon, near houses, pets, boat leaks, runoff from God knows what! No freaking way, not me.

    Dangerous Things

Have you never even gotten clam digger's itch from all that you do Scott? It's amazing you've gotten away with even that. I've always been a little shy of wading in bay water. It just seems a likely harbor for all kinds of weirdness. Now you have that dime-sized jelly fish to worry about.
