    Shower at the Ready

Guy, my neighbors could see me clearly if it were not for the leaves in the summer. But I don't shower naked unless it's very dark night. I have a pair of thin, loose polyester swim trunks. It works like a charm.

    Shower at the Ready

If you count the shower, the hot water heater pan, the hose, and a large rubber mat I stick in there to be above the water and maintain a non-slip surface, along with those pavers you see....it comes to about $250. The rest I had around the property.

    Shower at the Ready

I put this in last year and put it away for the winter. Here we are again, up and ready. I love this thing. I get home from the field and hop right in, no fuss, no muss. The tube leads to the woods. Solar power does the warmth. The tube is perpetually filled with water. I wanted a little more...

A Piney cabin in the woods

Geez, I wonder what the flood insurance costs for that baby.

A Piney cabin in the woods

If I had won the big one, I'd take a look at it. But I wonder if it floods.

A Piney cabin in the woods

Intriguing. Especially the bog in the woods. I wonder if the woods belong to us. Edit: Nope. That property is owned by those currently owning the house. Last years taxes = $21,000 (approx.)

I'd like to see a bounty on Beaver. Maybe $100 a head would do it.

    WMA Survey

I wonder how much money (and who's) is being gobbled up to create those management plans that run almost 100 pages long. These are being contracted out to design engineering firms, but they are also overseen by several different branches of the DEP.

A Pinelands preserve grows; home to the barred owl and the pine snake

"If you already love the wilderness, you already understand. "If you don't love wilderness, you need to explore it," he said. "And then you'll understand." Great quote by Russ!

    Wheelie

Thanks Gibby, makes sense, I suppose. Here is a never wet from the same area. I've never seen such robust ones as these, and so many of them.

    Wheelie

Found this odd stand way the hell out by Blacks Bridge today. Buried deep in the woods and long forgotten. Has two wheels at the top of the ladder. Very strange.

    A Pine Barrens Mystery

Very interesting Jeff. Nice find. Prohibition was bad for everyone, as is making a crime out of a taking a toke. Looks like the gentleman took an underground vacation in the pine barrens and never returned.

    Batona Trail Topo Map

Speaking of the trail, PPA, in the last newsletter made some claims about mileage along the Batona Trail that seem out of whack. The title is: Hike the Batona Trail in three 10-mile sections with naturalist John Volpa They go on to cite these three sections, none of which seems like 10 miles...

“Rough and Tumble Pine Plains," A PBX Hike

All I'm saying is that there is an abrupt change in the vegetation in the area of the survey line that shows up clearly on all aerial photos. This shot below is from 2007, before the 2010 fire. It has nothing to do with anything humans have done. The road being there is just happenstance.

    Where is this?

Not at this time Guy. If you look at the below photo, it is still draining very well. I'm going to check again this week. By the way, that sign was removed by someone.
