    Lebanon State Forest Project

That Shinn's Branch is known for good water and good cedars in there. Maybe they were starting to cut and the state bought it and burned the logging buildings down. Shinn's Branch is mentioned in the below link. I crossed that bridge over Shinn's Branch many times in my teens on the way towards...

A Fine Time For Fine Wine

You have a tiger in your tank? :) Does a six gallon pail of juice make six gallons of wine, or is water mixed in?

    Warren Grove a T&E Haven

“They (pine snakes) don’t mind planes — just people,” he said. “There’s no shopping malls or highways around here, so it’s like a vacation for them.” I'm onboard with that.

    The PBX Boss in Vermont

Guy, thanks for giving me a tour of some of the Northeast Kingdom highlights. I was pleasantly surprised driving up through Green Mountain National Forest, and even more surprised by the beauty of the Northeast. I had only seen Vermont from the windshield before, so I had this visual in my mind...

    Dead Rattlesnake

My experience with the timber rattlers is that their first reaction to a threat is to freeze and wait, and assess the situation carefully. Only under direct attack and after the attack is when they are aggressive. I have seen this behavior many times.

Hipster beer alert: Ballantine is coming back

..."However, the original formula had disappeared because the brewery had undergone changes under different owners. "The greatest challenge was doing the historical research," said Gregory Deuhs, Pabst's Master Brewer. "We had to go back and read first-hand accounts of the ale's flavor."...

    Lots of rain

Wait, now I'm really confused. Is a flood a wave of water, or is it the wave of negative emotions experienced by 46'r when he feels someone has ventured outside his narrow swim lane?

Wait, I'm confused. Is the flood the water or is the flood the media coverage of the basement?

    Lebanon State Forest Project

Yes, they really have nothing to do with determined passing. A coworker and friend of mine was heading home (west) on 70 about 15 years ago, and a guy heading east after his job fell asleep, crossed the line, and raked the side of his car, ripping it up pretty good and putting my friend in the...

    Lebanon State Forest Project

Odd about that hornet Guy. Just yesterday I inserted an army headnet into the flap in the back of my day pack in case of an emergency run to the truck. I had a bald faced hornet on my deck 3 days ago snooping around, so I looked them up. Scared the hell out of me just reading it, and the one...

    Ticks can now ruin

I don't understand how this can surface in just the past few years. Why not the 1980's or 1970's etc? Waiting, waiting patiently. Along a path I found him waiting.

    Where is this?

Yes Gibby, indeed. In one traverse of that road yesterday I counted 7 sand trucks. I cannot drive it anymore without seeing them. The leaf formation was not so pronounced before the increase in traffic. I wonder if they are shipping that sand out of state.

    Webb's Mill

It is not endangered Al, but it is a species of special concern and monitored by several entities to ensure it does not slip in that direction. I had said it was endangered in my post above but changed it when I realized my error. My fault.
