DL&W Oxford and "Manunka Chunk" tunnels

Mark, very good report, you tell a good story. So well, in fact, that I felt that same eerie feeling that you did when I saw your tunnel photo. Your line...."without boots, lights, and friends is as close a view as I was willing to pay for"....is a classic! Even with those alongside, it is very...

    Rattlesnake And A Stones

Yes, I caught some of that wetness too. Do you remember that little tributary of Cedar Creek with the spring holes? I finally ran that down to where it enters Cedar Creek. It disappears several times before it gets there, but I kept on it. The woods were gloriously sunny and wet.

    Allergies?

I heard that you should start the pills right before the pollen starts. One person described it as filling a chair with the medication before the pollen sits on it. Strangely, the pine pollen does not bother me that much except it lodges in the throat and has to be hacked out. Boyd, pine...

    Hail

Damn Al, that's pretty impressive. Thanks for showing it. I like how it was cutting the leaves right off the tree. One time I rented a car in Phoenix and drove up to the Grand Canyon. When I got to the rim it started hailing just like that. I remember thinking.."this ain't right Lord, how are...

    Where is this?

What a good man Howard was! He always had time for me and always with a smile on his face. Did he interact with any of you? I'd like to hear your stories. Anyway, where was this photo taken?

    Where is this?

Yes, I should have thought of that. We did a trip back in 2007? wherein we explored the Skit, starting from down by Hampton Furnace to all the way up where the soil is only damp (up by that little mountain west of Apple Pie Hill). In fact, we have a photo at the bridge of all of us who went that...

    I figure ask the experts

Nic, why not go to the camps and check them out before you book them? I actually never camped at one, but if I was going to, I'd check them out since any day in the pines is a good day.

    Florida Express

Is it safe Al, for that guy to be poking around in the brush and under masonry ledges with his hand (in Florida)?

    Allergies?

Interesting. Whatever works for you I suppose. There are books and there are books. All of that confuses me. I'll stick with the general guidelines for now until the doctor tells me I need to alter course. http://www.health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2010.asp

    Where is this?

Hmm. Does not look canoed, so it should be harder than you think. My first thought was next to Wading Pines Campground.

    Oak Island, A PBX Visit.

It was a really lovely day on that idyllic island. Very peaceful. I want to thank Ted Gordon for his excellent expertise in helping us identify as many plants as possible. Ted is an excellent botanist and a great guy to explore with.
