    Where is this?

You are correct. I just knew someone would get it. I have fond memories of that bridge, from when I was in my 20's. Here is the current google street view:

    Where is this?

No, not there. You must of thought it was an old time photo taken from that spot many years ago, because now that area is quite open and the cedar is minimal. I am not sure the bridge in my photo is still there. But, it could be seen from a frequently traveled paved road.

    Wildflower ID Help?

I'm glad your Grandson(?) liked the outdoors adventure! The first one is Swamp Azalea. Rhododendron viscosum. The second one is Goat's Rue. Galega officinalis. The third one is a pipewort. Eriocaulon compressum.

    Naked man hiking.

I admit to walking naked in the pines a couple of times. Usually on one of those 90 degree September days with no humidity. It was out there where no one "should" be but me. It is quite liberating and very refreshing. It is hard to explain, but I did it because I could and wanted to experience...

Correct sir! And from the woods side. By the way, what is the purpose of this lovely field? I don't know, but would like to.

    Berkely Crossroads Fire Notes

As I said in an earlier post, the plow dug right through a cripple. This is a tragedy. Why on heaven's earth would we want to change the formation of a cripple forever--and for what? A cripple is a sign of our geological past--it tells us where the water flow is underneath the ground, and it's...

    Berkely Crossroads Fire Notes

I went back through the newspaper reports online to get the date (24 April, 2014) of the crossroads fire. So it has now been just over 5 weeks since that hot burn. I went out yesterday to see how the recovery went. Interesting. I thought you'd like to see what's going on. The first thing back...

About 10 days ago, mine stopped recording tracks, and all the menus got weird. I reset it and everything came back normal.

"Lure of the Tupehocken"...A PBX Hike

By the way, we missed the spot I really wanted to see at the end. I should have followed my instincts. When we got to "exploring country," we were all tired, but I said okay, let's hit one more waypoint (Peerless point). As we started in that direction we ran into one of those infamous pitch...

Our track for the day along with waypoints. The far right straight line is traveling in the vehicles to the drop off point. It was 6 miles to the drop off point from the end point. It seemed like 12.

You could not ask for better weather. Thanks to all who helped, and thanks for the food everyone! This river is really difficult to pin down. Many, many tributaries enter the river, and even when you have an aerial photo right in front of you, you question your location and whether or not it's...

    Where is this?

It's really sad to see those old gun clubs, you know? I can see them in the backyards in their wool-checkered shirts and dickie type pants, having fun, backslapping and drinking after a hunt....getting ready for a poker game later in the evening. What happened? :(
